Tailings are the mine waste left behind after removing precious and critical minerals. That waste can often contain harmful chemicals and heavy metals that can pollute soil, water and crops. A team of researchers at the University of Queensland is using the Canadian Light Source at the University of Saskatchewan to turn those harmful tailings into healthy soil.
