In his recent paper for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, visiting fellow Jerome Gessaroli argues Canada's subsidies for electric vehicles and charging stations are not cost-effective when it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and notes that EV infrastructure is not equitable for all Canadians to access, meaning the subsidies only benefit those with higher incomes. Gessaroli joins Gormley to tell us why he says it's time to rethink EV subsidies.

Canada announced negotiations with U.S. defence giant Lockheed Martin to purchase F-35 fighter jets to replace our aging fleet of CF-18 Hornets, but the process that got us to this point has been long and mired by controversy. Negotiations are expected to take about 7 months, with a final contract expected by the end of the year, with an anticipated cost of $19B. Kim Richard Nossal studies Canadian foreign and defense policy as a professor emeritus in the Department of Political Studies with Queen's University, and Nossal joins John to share his thoughts on the F-35 purchase announcement and the long process that led Canada to this point.

The medical drones supplied by Draganfly Inc. will be used to search for wounded civilians and to get medical supplies into the hardest hit areas. Saskatoon's city council will vote tonight on a number of proposed changes to school zones, including leaving school zones in effect year-round (rather than the current September-June system), extending the hours to run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and adding "playground zones" around high-traffic parks that do not contain a school.
