Since the beginning of the Russian attack on Ukraine, we've been connecting with Petro Skirchuk, a Saskatoon resident from Ukraine who still has relatives in the country, and now works with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. Skirchuk, who formerly worked for the United Nations in Ukraine, joins our Day of Caring to share his thoughts on the Russian attack and what he's hearing from friends and family who are still in his homeland.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe joins our Day of Caring to tell us about the help and support the Province has provided for Ukrainians, and how the provincial government can help in the days ahead.

Andrii Gnatiuk came to Saskatchewan following the War in Donbas, where he served as a T-64 tank commander from 2015 to 2016. Gnatiuk joins Gormley to tell us about his own wartime experience in Ukraine, and the challenges the country still faces.

Maria Campbell moved to Canada in 2011, settling in Saskatoon, and got her parents out of Ukraine just days before the Russian invasion. but still has family in the country. But while her parents are safe, she's still deeply concerned for the safety of her friends and relatives still in Ukraine, and she joins John to tell us her story.

A man from Senlac, SK who's been living in Ukraine for three years, says he doesn't want to leave the country he fell in love with, but may be forced to flee from his home and make for a safe country. Bryce Walker, who works in photography and video editing and maintains his own video blog, joins John to tell us about his situation and what he's been seeing and hearing as the fighting continues.

As we continue our Day of Caring for Ukraine, we check in with Lana Niland, a Saskatoon-born woman who's lived in Kyiv for almost two decades. Niland joins John to share the latest on what she's seeing and hearing in the country's capital as the Russian invasion continues.

Rostyk Hursky moved from Ukraine to Saskatchewan in 2006, and for the past seven years he's run a non-profit called 'Stream of Hopes' that's raised more than $150,000 to help Ukrainian orphans and disadvantaged children. Hursky says orphanages are a major issue in Ukraine, and the war has made the problem worse as facilities are destroyed and more people are displaced, and he joins John to tell us how children are being affected by the fighting in Ukraine.

13-year-old Kateryna Grace, accompanied by her older sister Nataliya, joins John in studio to share some of the music of Ukraine with us as we continue our Day of Caring.

As we kick off our Rawlco Day of Caring for Ukraine, John is joined by Danylo Puderak, who heads the Saskatchewan Provincial Council for the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, to tell us about the work they're doing to help the people of Ukraine and how your donations today will help out.

Vitaly Kushnir, owner of SMAK Ukrainian Store in Saskatoon and Yorkton, has many friends and connections in Ukraine, and has recently been to the areas in Donbas that are currently being torn apart by fighting. Kurshnir says he's been angered by what he's seen from Russia and Vladimir Putin, and he joins John to tell us how he and his Ukrainian friends in Canada are feeling as the conflict in his homeland rages on.

Many Saskatchewan businesses are stepping up in a huge way to help relief efforts in Ukraine. One of them is Southey-based Quinn Nikolak, who's donating 100% of the proceeds from his custom woodworking business 'Custom Kitties Canada' to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation to support humanitarian aid. Nikolak was inspired to help after seeing a picture of children in a Ukraine NICU being taken to a hospital basement to protect them from shelling. He said the image reminded him of his own son, and he decided to donate his proceeds and challenge other businesses to do the same. Nikulak joins Gormley to tell us more.
