Cianna Lieffers is back from Beijing where she put her refereeing skills to the test during the 2022 Olympic women's ice hockey tournament. Lieffers, who teaches in Asquith and has been a ref since age 12, went viral online during the Games after she was unintendedly slashed on the face by a player during the Canada-US match and returned to the ice after almost immediately shrugging off the injury. Lieffers joins Gormley to tell us about her Olympic adventure.

Lana Nicole Niland is a Saskatoon woman who has been living in Ukraine's capital for the past 18 years. Niland joins Gormley from Kyiv with an update on the war in Ukraine, what she's seeing and hearing from her home, and why she's chosen to stay in the city amid the concerns of a Russian advance.

Iryna Matsiuk came to Saskatoon from Ukraine 10 years ago. She left her entire family there and as Russia invaded here home country she wanted to do whatever she could from here. Matsiuk is co-chair of the UCC Saskatchewan Ukraine Crisis Response Committee and she joins Gormley to discuss the work they are doing to help Ukrainian relatives of people living here.

The 40th annual Bed Push for TeleMiracle gets underway this week, with students from the Agriculture Students Association pushing a hospital bed all the way from Saskatoon to Regina on March 3, 4, and 5 to raise funds for the annual telethon. The tradition has been running since the early '80s, and Kate Sauser with the Ag Students Association joins John to share the details, and how you can help support their fundraiser.

Vlad Bondarenko has been living in Saskatoon for 13 years, but his father, brother, and sister are still in Ukraine and he's concerned for their safety in the face of Russia's invasion. Bondarenko has started a fundraiser on Facebook to try and help get his loved ones out of Ukraine and into Canada to join him or to a safe third country. Bondarenko joins John to tell us about his family's situation, what he's hearing from Ukraine, and why he's asking for help.

A scary abduction case in Saskatchewan ended with a mother being reunited with her daughter after months of uncertainty. RCMP caught up with Michael Gordon Jackson, the man accused of abducting his seven-year-old daughter Sarah due to his objections to the COVID-19 vaccine, in Vernon, B.C. late last week and he was arrested without incident. He'll now face the abduction charge in a Regina court, and Sarah has since been reunited with her mother Mariecar Jackson. Mariecar's lawyer Jill Drennan joins Gormley to tell us about the end of this scary case.

A Saskatchewan man living in Ukraine says he doesn't want to leave the country he fell in love with, but that might be necessary as the Russian invasion continues. Bryce Walker has lived in Ukraine with his girlfriend for the past three years, working in photography and video editing and maintaining his own video blog, and he's been sharing videos of his own experience after waking up last week to the sound of Russian jets roaring overhead. Walker joins Gormley to tell us what things are like for civilians living in Ukraine, and why he says sanctions will not be enough to bring Vladimir Putin's aggression into check.

Saskatchewan is home to one of the largest diasporas of Ukrainians anywhere in the world, and many - particularly those with family, friends, or close connections in their homeland - are seriously concerned about the attack by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Danylo Puderak is the head of the Saskatchewan Provincial Council for the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, and he joins John to share what he's hearing from members and his thoughts on the large package of sanctions announced Thursday by Prime Minister Trudeau and US President Joe Biden.
