Advocates for the Rule of Law have sent a letter to both Houses of Parliament a letter urging all MPs and Senators to revoke the government's declaration of a public order emergency. Dwight Newman, a professor of law at the University of Saskatchewan has signed the letter. Newman joins Gormley to tell us about the significant concerns they have with the Government of Canada’s declaration of a public order emergency and why they are urging Parliament to revoke the declaration.

With the Support of the NDP, the Emergencies Act passed a crucial House of Commons vote on Monday. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh had said ahead of the vote, the NDP would withdraw their support if they felt at any point the powers were being misused. Singh joins Gormley to tell us why the NDP voted in favour of the Emergencies Act.

Protest and convoy organizers, and some others who have donated to the GoFundMe for the Freedom Convoy 2022, have had their bank accounts frozen under the Emergencies Act powers granted to financial institutions. Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said the freezing of the accounts was justified to "follow the money" and cut off support for the illegal protests occupying Ottawa. Tom Korski, managing editor for Blacklock's Reporter in Ottawa, joins Gormley to discuss what standard they are using to freeze these accounts, and why it's so concerning to many observers.

In a recent commentary for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, Saskatchewan's former finance minister Janice MacKinnon says Canada should look to the 2001 Mazankowski Report for the tools to fix our struggling healthcare system, particularly when it comes to improving wait times and sustainability. Free take-home HIV test kits are now available at 23 locations around Saskatchewan, and advocates say it's a big step towards lowering the province's high rates of the disease. Cheryl Baryon with the Persons Living with AIDS Network of Saskatchewan says the test kits are a valuable tool, particularly for remote communities without access to regular testing, and she joins Gormley to tell us more.
