Robert Thompson is a Trustee Professor of Television and Popular Culture at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and he joins John to discuss Batman and the character’s impact on pop culture over the years.

Canada has imposed a ban on crude oil imports from Russia, but many are calling on the Trudeau government to ban all petroleum imports in response to Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. But with pipeline construction still lagging in Canada, and the Liberal government aiming to reduce Canadians use of fossil fuels even further, is it possible for Canada to break our reliance on foreign products and help other nations use our energy as an alternative? A Winnipeg comedian is performing next week in his hometown of Saskatoon, and he's got an interesting angle to his comedy: mental health. Big Daddy Tazz, who styles himself 'The Bi-Polar Buddha,' has struggled with a number of mental health issues including bi-polar disorder, until he realized he could use his issues to enhance his life rather than destroy it. Tazz, who has performed for audiences all over North America and once set the world record for the longest stand-up comedy set (8 1/2 hours!), joins Gormley to tell us about his journey with mental health and why he's made his own recovery a part of his act.

Conservatives will choose their new federal leader in September, and Carleton MP Pierre Poilievre is already considered a favourite to replace Erin O'Toole. Poilievre is in Saskatchewan this week, with a rally planned in Regina today following a stop in Saskatoon Thursday, and he joins Gormley to tell us why he wants to lead the party and share his thoughts on a few of the top federal issues on the minds of Canadians.

The Provincial Government of Saskatchewan has been helping the people of Ukraine since before the Russian invasion, with a $100,000 humanitarian donation made on Jan. 31. Gerald Luciuk is chair of the Saskatchewan Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee, Government of Saskatchewan, and he joins Gormley to tell us how the Province is working closely with the Ukrainian community and how the aid will help the people of Ukraine.
