Welcome to another exciting episode of Atlanta Tennis Podcast, powered by Go Tennis. In todays’ 10 Minutes of Tennis discussion, we dive deep into the importance of demonstrating your preaches to your students as a coach.

Join Shaun Boyce as he hosts the world famous Australian Coach,  Justin Yeo to dissect the qualities of great and nuanced coaches, like -  Nick Politarik, Nick Volansari.

          Our Guest Today:

Justin Yeo is the famous Australian coach who lives in Puerto Rico. The immensely talented coach has worked with all levels of players, from Junior to professional players. His experience of working with many coaches with different styles, have provided him great insights on how a coach should maintain his career.

          Key Takeouts of The Episode:

Whether you are a new coach or a seasoned one, regardless of your physical fitness, you must possess some extraordinary qualities to impart in your players. Learn about the details of the capabilities that will assist you in a successful career.

          • Live Demonstration, or, Visual Aid: Over 70% of humans are visual learners. Therefore, when a coach actually practices his proposed training session to his trainee players, the preached idea becomes much more comprehensible for them. Every coach must maintain a minimal level of fitness to pull off at least some portion of his ning strategies. If they are absolutely unable to do so, they should provide video reference of others to help the learners.
          • Updated Knowledge: Sometimes age or physical restrictions, limits the coaches from practicing their proposed ideas. Under such circumstances, coaches should regularly make their methods up to date. To emphasis this, Yeo uses the rotation of shoulder development and how it has evolved in the last 30 years.
          • Other Abilities: When it comes to coaches, high performance is always should not be the decider here. As long as a coach passes down good attributes to the players, they should be regarded as good coaches. Yoe cites Nick Politarik and Nick Volansari as examples, both lacking in physical fitness, but while the former is the epitome of a disciplined life, the latter is really good at passing directions.

Yeo also talks about coaches at junior level. Learn how -

          • Enthusiasm and passion for tennis should hold more impotence in a junior level tennis coach than skills or any other thing. Coaches should pass down the passion for the game to the students to ensure that they do not drop out of the sport.

In this episode, Justin discusses its necessity (to all players) and the conclusions supporting that such knowledge can lift your game a level higher. Whether you have tennis elbow or are having trouble with your footwork, knowing how to posture your body correctly can make all the difference.

          Episode Highlights:

The Importance of the Athletic Base: Justin explains the importance of the athletic base in terms of movement, balance, and proper ball hitting. He emphasizes that the athletic basis utilizes the large muscle groups, whereas striking the ball requires the smaller muscle groups.

Correct stance: Justin continues on the most common errors made by players and explains what they should do regarding their body positions, such as keeping their back straight while slightly leaning forward and extending the buttocks out. Such a position make it easier for players to throw a powerful shot. He further adds players must always stay on the balls of their feet while moving.

Finding the Right width for Proper Stance: Few things make it easier to determine your perfect stance width. To do it, one simply needs to leap in the air and land naturally and comfortably. Justin points that the space between the feet is the perfect width.. He also addresses how this enables participants to choose the best in shape and function placement with a view to aiding their athletic base.

Preventing Injuries: Justin reviews the importance of developing an athletic foundation to help avoid things like tennis elbow, shoulder issues, and wrist problems. He details how the athletic base can take the load off other areas.

Practical Tips: Justin gives a practical guide to improve coaches and players in their athletic base, hip alignment, and stance width. He stresses the importance of an empirical in-base Athletic Front for efficiency on a broad scale.

Every successful tennis player starts with a solid athletic foundation. It is the active activation of your core and primary leg muscles to achieve a secure and powerful position from which you may move explosively in any direction. J

          Key Takeaways:

          • The athletic base is essential for developing excellent tennis skills and avoiding injuries.
          • Concentrate on core engagement, powerful legs, and proper weight distribution.
          • Find a suitable stance width that allows for explosive movement.
          • Avoid trying to imitate very flexible professional players like Novak Djokovic or Federer.

Bonus: The episode includes details about the resources offered by the Atlanta Tennis Podcast, such as upcoming tennis tournaments, special offers on apparel and equipment, and a special chance for coaches to sell branded stuff.

        • 10 Minutes of Tennis: Get the Fundamentals RIGHT From the START

Hello, tennis lovers! The Atlanta Tennis Podcast, powered by GoTennis, is back with another exciting episode. Today, our host, Shaun, discusses the value of tennis fundamentals with Justin Yeo, a highly sought-after coach from Puerto Rico. Whether you are ready to start mastering the ready stance or struggling with what your non-dominant hand should be doing, Justin is joining us today to provide actionable advice that resonates with all levels of players.

Why are tennis basics so important? Click play and enjoy what Justin has to offer.

          About Justin Yeo

Before getting into the episode, let's introduce our special guest for today, Justin Yeo, a tennis coach recognized for his great grasp of technique and player development. Justin has quickly become well known in tennis for his ability to articulate complex movement mechanics in a simple, easy-to-understand, user-friendly way. He currently works from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico and is originally from Australia. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, Justin thinks your tennis playing skills can be improved if you’re obsessed with learning the skills that he unlocks in this episode.

          Quick Recap of The Episode

In this episode, we return to the basics (something that Justin insists is essential for all players).

Below are some highlights of our conversation-

          • About low stance: Justin stated the game usually starts with a low stance. Everything else will ultimately be called travel if you are in a different position from play onset. He offers some advice on how to develop the ideal position, allowing you to keep your body harmonized and your mind sharp so that you can perform well.
          • The power of the split step: Discover how a gymnast does it and practice on your break. This will improve your movement on the court, making you faster and better defensively. This basic move can change the game whether you play defense or set up an offensive shot.
          • Utilizing non-dominant hand: Your non-dominant hand is vital to stabilizing your shots. Listen in as Justin explains how you can leverage this often-ignored quality of your game to improve shot consistency and control.
          • Utilizing forward swings: Stop worrying about how everything looks up to the top. Rather, focus on the forward swing. Why? Ultimately, that is an indicator of where the ball will go. He explains what happens when we focus on forward motion, and every golfer can hit a more solid, powerful shot.
          • Unit turn and shoulder rotation: Another gem from the episode is the emphasis on a proper unit turn vs. an improper shoulder rotation. Doing this part correctly leads to easy and efficient body movements, which translate into more accurate shots.
          • Fixing the normal culprits: Justin and Shaun discuss how several adults, especially those well-known for years, usually slack on their essentials. By adjusting our ready stance and utilizing sound footwork, Justin covers how to be your most match-ready at once as you were (for the next few years) when you truly needed it.
