Farmers of Agricultural Region Seven (7) are now better equipped to ensure sustainable crop production on their farms, thanks to the recent hosting of the Farmer Field School, which focused on the implementation of ecosystem- friendly cultivation of cucumbers.
The curtains officially closed on the Quality Improvement Training enriching participants with a wealth of knowledge on the application of Quality Improvement methods to bring about better patient outcomes.
The Quality Improvement Training, organized by the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs culminated with a closing ceremony where participants were provided with certification in Quality Improvement.

The Project Implementation Unit through the OECS Regional Health Project recently handed over to the Environmental Health Division within the Ministry of Health equipment for the entomology lab.
With a fully equipped entomology lab, the team from the Environmental Health Division will be able to monitor and test mosquito samples in an effort to make informed decisions in the area of fogging and other vector control interventions.

In light of growing concerns surrounding a potential dengue fever outbreak, the Environmental Health Division has taken proactive steps to enhance mosquito control efforts across the island.
Recognizing the serious public health risk posed by mosquito-borne diseases, the Division has adopted a multi-faceted approach aimed at safeguarding the well-being of all citizens. Since the launch of a comprehensive vector awareness campaign in July 2024, the Environmental Health Division has implemented a series of targeted measures designed to mitigate the risk of dengue fever and other mosquito-borne illnesses. These initiatives are a key part of the Division’s strategy to ensure that communities remain vigilant and informed throughout the ongoing rainy season, which is typically associated with increased mosquito activity.
Key initiatives by the Environmental Health Division include, house-to-house inspections; identification and treatment of abandoned or open water sources; and ongoing vector education.
