We contrast the old self and new self, as well as the flesh and the Spirit. We gain a clear understanding of the Christian's current position toward sin. The result is a clearer approach to the goal of sanctification.

We consider the remedy for our sinful condition, including the work of Christ on the cross. We discuss Jesus' sinlessness, His atonement for our sins, and this as the basis for our justificaiton.

In this sermon, we will pick up the series in Colossians and discover the good news of the Mystery of the church. The worship service will follow this theme as well. This is His mystery, Christ in you - the hope of glory-

How sinful are we- The lesson covers the effects of sin on ourselves as people. We have inherited corruption, guilt, and punishment. The lesson also considers common objections like God's fairness, the -virtuous pagan- and infants who die.

Where did sin come from- We consider the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden and compare with our own temptations.

The Chronicler gives us incentive to seek God and pursue His will by giving a summary of Israel's history in the Promised Land.

At times we need to hear an urgent appeal to get into God's Word with more energy and consistency. These challenges can push us to avail ourselves of all that God's Word provides. Very few Scriptures challenge us as often and as beautifully as Psalm 119.
