The setting of Revelation 7 is “the great Tribulation”. (Revelation 7:14) The last seven years of the Old Testament story of Israel unfolds as the King and the Kingdom approach. (Revelation 11:15, 19:11-16) The Church is in Heaven. Now Israel and the 144,000 sealed Jewish evangelists are the proclaimers of the Gospel of Christ in the place of the Church. In this time of “tribulation” (intense pressure, judgment on a Christ-rejecting earth) God is still at working offering His grace and saving souls!

Sonora Smart Dodd was raised by her father William Smart along with her five brothers and sisters. Sonora Smart Dodd decided to celebrate the first Father’s Day in June, 1910 in her church in Spokane, Washington, with the support of the city ministerial association. President Calvin Coolidge declared the first national Father’s Day in 1924. It is right and good to recognize the irreplaceable place in human life of fathers and godly men. Our text in Revelation 6:12-17 sums up with the sixth seal of terrible judgments upon a Christ-rejecting world and gives the Great Tribulation an astounding, thought provoking name “the wrath of the Lamb.” This term is astounding because the Lamb came as our gentle, loving Savior of grace, and now we see His “wrath.” This is thought-provoking because the term “wrath of the Lamb” drives us to examine the Scriptures more deeply so we understand our God better and in fullness. God grant us His wisdom to understand, tremble, and worship Him more, in spirit and in truth.
