It would be an understatement to say that Jesus was the greatest preacher who ever lived. His Sermon on the Mount, His Sermon on the Plain, His Upper Room Discourse are just a few examples of the matchless ability He had to communicate spiritual truth. Some people believe that His greatest sermon was one that is called the Olivet Discourse and that’s the one we begin considering this morning.

Because of current events and the questions that many people have, we are going to focus on a topic that is crucial to understand -- the differences between Islam and Christianity.

Why is there such an intense hatred against the Jews from so many people around the world? In light of recent events in our world and to help us understand them from a biblical point of view, Pastor Bryan breaks our current series to present this message titled, “Why Satan Hates Israel.”

You can’t imagine how magnificent the temple complex was when Jesus and His disciples were in Jerusalem at the end of Jesus’ life. Yet, it would be destroyed in A.D. 70. Jesus knew it was coming when He was near the end of His ministry some 40 years before it happened.

Those of us who truly know Christ as our personal Lord and Savior sometimes behave hypocritically, but that’s not the same thing as being an intentional hypocrite. These are people who live lives of constant hypocrisy. In this passage of consideration, Jesus confronts the intentional hypocrites of His day.

As Jesus neared the end of His ministry, disingenuous questions were thrown at Him repeatedly until He finally decided that it was time to end the questions by asking a question of His own.

Jesus silenced His enemies and taught the multitudes at the same time. We see an example of this in the text to which we come this week.

When you talk about religion or politics, it is impossible to please everyone. Maybe that’s why the enemies of Jesus, during the last week of His life, tried to trap Him and snare Him by asking Him a question about God and government. The interchange is recorded for us in Luke 20.

There is often a fierce anger that arises within people when their religion is challenged with the word of God. That is exactly what happened in Jesus’ day and it resulted in His death.
