Sometimes the direction of this world doesn't seem like it, but God is in complete control of this world. We see an answer here to the persecuted martyrs, one that literally thunders. Yet, we'll also graphically note that such a revelation can be bittersweet. Let's first note this angel's oath that there'll be no more delay -vv. 1-7-, and then his strange order to John in vv. 8-11.

This world is more confused about gender than ever, so it needs the clarity of Scripture. God originally made two sexes - male and female - with each sex having high callings attached to it. Society needs men and women, husbands and wives, and fathers and mothers. We have some important information to that end in this text.

We conclude our look at 1 - 2 Books of Kings, considering some interpretative issues.

We continue our look at 1 - 2 Kings-

Like with many aspects of Revelation's imagery, many Christians disagree as to what we're reading here. It seems best to view these as another group of spiritual invaders, similar to the demonic onslaught of locusts. The difference here is that this judgment will result in the deaths of millions. This text is a frequent battlefield, one that dates to its penning. Still, just like the Ephesians, we're called to honor God by keeping to His Holy Word, and this passage both affirms and challenges some of our accepted gender norms. Depending on your preconceptions on this issue, Paul might be saying either more than you thought or less than you've applied, with a positive command for women to learn in the church with two qualifications and a command forbidding their teaching and leading men -with qualifications-.
