The Last Days and the Second Coming of Christ
    Highlights of the Great Tribulation

For then there will be great tribulation such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.”  (Matthew 24:21)

The Great Tribulation is a time of severe judgments on the earth. They are not easy to talk about. The reasons I share them with you is because they are in the word of God, and all God’s words are profitable (2Tim.3:16-17). We don’t want to be like the Joel Osteens of this world and only read the refrigerator verses. All God’s words are true and profitable.

Secondly, they are written to us. Revelation 1:3 promises a special blessing upon those who read, hear and keep the words of that last book in the Bible. I am hoping and praying that these truths will stir us up with zeal for our own repentance and for that of our loved ones.

Thirdly, in Revelation the judgments of the Great Tribulation are directed by the Lamb of God. True, this world is bringing all these things on themselves, but the judgments are from the scroll in the hands of Jesus.

When my oldest daughter was still crawling around on the floor, I came into the living room with an old noisy vacuum cleaner. It sounded like a jet plane taking off. She started frantically crying. I tried to get her attention toward me. “Hey! It’s me, your dad. I would never hurt you or allow anything to hurt you.” I was hoping she would see that the scary thing was coming out of my hands. She didn’t and I had to shut the thing off. What I hope you will see in the highlights of the Great Tribulation is that the judgments are directed by our Savior who loves us, and that you will trust Him in all these things.

These highlights are important because of what Jesus said in Matthew 24:6 & 8. “For all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” As we approach the rapture and the great tribulation, these things will become more and more intense and frequent. We don’t know how bad they will get before the rapture happens and the tribulation starts. These judgments are the beginning of sorrows and they will continue as a woman in travail, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman; they’ll increase in intensity and frequency. (1Thes.5:3)  We need to be looking for the beginning of these even now... to read more click on the following link... http://www.gracehouseclinton.com/2022/04/the-last-days-and-the-second-coming-of-christ-highlights-of-the-great-tribulation

    Kings Have Enemies

“When Herod the king heard there things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.”  (Matthew 2:3)

“He was despised and rejected by men.”   (Isaiah 53:3)
This is our second look at the Christmas story under the theme of King Jesus. In the first one we saw “The Uniqueness of King Jesus.” There is none like Him. He’s the one we worship at Christmas and will throughout eternity. He is on the Lamb who was slain who is worthy to receive worship.

Now we turn the corner to look at the commonality of King Jesus with all Christians who are also kings. There is much we have in common. The dark side of Christmas we don’t usually look at. We like the brightness in the skies over the shepherds as the angels announce the coming of the King, and the star that led the way to Bethlehem for the wise men. But there is a dark side to Christmas. There was “no room for Him in the inn” but His parents must have had many relatives, descendants of David, in that town who didn’t have room. This pattern of rejection followed Jesus all His life.

When Jesus was born He had enemies. There was already a king on the throne in Judea and that king named Herod was a ruthless wicked paranoid king who was troubled at the news of King Jesus being born in his realm; and when Herod was disturbed all Jerusalem was disturbed. He tried to trick the wise men to return and tell him where King Jesus was so he could go and worship Him also. That was a lie. Satan is the father of lies. Herod revealed what he wanted to do when he found out the wise men had outsmarted him. He sent the army to Bethlehem to kill all the baby boys who had been born in the last two years. That was the slaughter of the innocents prophesied by Jeremiah. Such is the hatred of some for King Jesus.

    Power to Obey God

Jesus said, “I can of Myself do nothing.” (John 15:5)

Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

We need the power of God to obey God. We don’t need divine supernatural strength to obey our employer. Money is all the motivation we need. You don’t do what he says and you are fired. But when it comes to God, we need faith because God does pay you for your obedience, but not with money. That’s why we need faith and that’s why we need God to do something inside of us that will motivate us and give us the power to obey Him. We cannot obey God without the power of God coming within (Ephesians 3:16).

Obedience to God is important. We are saved by grace, but we will be judged and rewarded for our obedience. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2Cor.5:10) That is for the Christian! Paul includes himself in that judgment. Our eternal rewards are determined by our obedience to God’s word.

This will set you free. The only thing required of us is faith and love. We are saved by faith. Faith works by love. “And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another.” (1John3:23) Paul thanked God for the Colossian Christians because “we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all the saints.” (Col.1:3-4) If we are ever going to obey God, we must have faith and love. Both these are gifts from God (Eph.2:8-9; Rm.5:5; Acts 18:27) to be received simply by faith.

Jesus was asked, “What is the great commandment in the law? He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”  The good news is: faith works by love (Gal.5:6).

Everything God requires of us is found in the word love. “All the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Gal.5:14) When you love your neighbor you won’t bear false witness against him, you won’t steal from him, murder him or covet what he has. This love is an inside job.

God commands us to love and He expects that commandment to be obeyed. Our greatest blessing comes in obeying the commands of God. Cursed are those who do not obey God. Obedience is necessary to please God and to gain eternal rewards.

You might say, “But how can love be commanded? I thought love had to be free or it isn’t love.” It indeed must be free. We are not robots. But love is a choice. Contrary to popular opinion, love is not a feeling or just an emotion. Love is a choice. We must freely choose to love God and others.

Jesus adds another commandment of love in John 13:34, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” We are to love God above everything and everyone else and love our neighbor as we love ourselves; but there is a higher love than for neighbors and it is love for the family of God. We are to love them as Christ has loved us. He denied Himself and took up the cross to love those who believe in Him. “Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it.” (Eph.5:25)... click on the following link to read more: http://www.gracehouseclinton.com/2021/03/power-to-obey-god

How Man Exercises Dominion Over God’s Creation
God created mankind for a purpose. It’s an eternal purpose so that purpose will never change. We were created to be like God, created in His likeness. We were given the highest position in God’s universe – dominion over the earth, both seen and unseen world, the material and spiritual world. We were given dominion. Everything was to be subject to man’s rule under God. God had given the earth to man.

As we know, Adam and Eve blew it. They sinned and Satan usurped the dominion. Jesus and Paul declared him to be the prince of the power of the air, the ruler and god of this world. That’s why there is so much strife and suffering in this world. Satan is the lord of pain, disease and strife. He is a cruel taskmaster.

But then Jesus came as a man in the exact image of the invisible God.  As a sinless man He ruled over demons, disease, storms and everything.  Sin gave and still gives Satan the right to rule and ruin our lives. Jesus exercised absolute authority and power over the spirit and material world while He walked this earth.

Then Jesus died on a cross to take away our sins. By His sacrifice He declares and makes believers righteous. Christ takes away our sins and gives His righteousness to us. Satan has no more right to rule over us. He has been cast down. Christ has triumphed over death and the devil. He did that Himself, but He did not do that for Himself. He did that for us and as us. He took our sins, thus taking away the right of Satan to be our god and inflicting oppression and suffering upon us (Col.2:13-15)... to read more click on the following link...

    Two Great Mysteries

    (Ephesians Chapter Three)
Everybody loves a great mystery. So does God. In the Bible there are many mysteries. A mystery is something you wouldn’t know unless God told you. He does this by the Holy Spirit, who Himself is a mystery. Jesus Christ is a mystery. We wouldn’t know who Jesus was if God did not reveal it. Peter said, “You are the Christ, Son of the living God.” And Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 16:13-17) We might think Jesus was a great man, even a great man of God, a prophet or something; but we would not know He was the Son of God. We wouldn’t know He was dying for the sins of mankind or that He rose from the dead unless the Spirit revealed these things. He first revealed them to the writers of the Bible and then to our spirit.
There are two mysteries revealed in this chapter: the mystery of the church and the spirit of man.

    I. The Mystery of the Church, v.1-11
“How that by revelation He made known to me the mystery, the mystery of Christ, the fellowship of the mystery, the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The word revelation used here is the same as the Greek word for the last book in the Bible – Revelation. (Revelation 1:1) It is apocalypse which means an unveiling, appearing, manifestation, making unknown things known. The book of Revelation is about the second coming of Jesus, which had been made known before that book was written. But the revelation of the church was made known after that, especially given to Paul (v.4)... to read more click on the following link... http://www.gracehouseclinton.com/2021/02/two-great-mysteries
