This morning we begin our new series in the gospel of John. Over the next few months, we’ll focus
on the first section of John’s gospel, chapters 1-5. In this segment, we see Jesus beginning to manifest the character
of his Father. Through stories, teachings and miracles, he shows us the heart of God. The prologue (John 1:1-18) is
an amazing example of poetry and theology that sets the stage for who Jesus is. While other gospels tell us about
Jesus’ birth and childhood, John takes us back to eternity past. In this first section, John tells us about Jesus’ coming
in dramatic poetic fashion in three acts.
