At the very beginning of the New Testament the Holy Spirit provides us with a passage that is far
more than just a genealogy. It’s a worldview declaration: God’s long-awaited King has come to establish his
kingdom. His kingdom is both present and future. But we can start to live in the present expression of his kingdom
now. The amazing thing is that God’s kingdom has a particular quality to it: it is a place of supernatural love. To
understand this, I want us to experience Jesus’ genealogy as a story.
