Generosity was a core value of the early church. It is the Biblical model that we support the churches, leaders, and pastors who invest spiritually in us. We give from the top of the stack not the bottom of the barrel. Generosity is a spiritual gift. We are all called to give sacrificially. Some of us are given the opportunity and privilege to give in ways others can't. Do I have to trust God or do I get to trust God? You will receive more from your giving than from your keeping. Our perspective changes when we rush to give someone else our best rather than keeping it for ourselves. We give because Jesus has given so generously to us.

Why do we sing? Singing is giving our breath back to God as a sacrifice. From the beginning, singing has been a part of worship to God. Singing connects us to other people and connects what we believe to what we remember. Worship is even more meaningful when we choose to worship through our pain.

Church can be a loaded word. Gathering was essential in the early church. If you are a follower of Jesus you are a part of the body of Christ. Why the church in the first place? Jesus established the church as his vehicle for the Gospel. Our Christian life would be richer if our understanding of the church was deeper. Why go to church? Because we get to worship a savior who has given us life and purpose. Reorient your Sunday morning around what you get to do and not what you have to do.

The early church was devoted to the teachings of the apostles. The church during the time of Acts was committed to fellowship and they observed communion by breaking bread with one another. The early church was also devoted to prayer.
