Just because you admire something or someone doesn’t mean you need to pursue that thing or that person.

And remember that everything that’s beautiful, creative, unique, good, awesome, funny, or admirable is merely fractured (sometimes even marred) reflections of Gods beauty and creativity and uniqueness and hilariousness. Because God is awesome.

Don’t substitute who you are for what you think others expect you to be.

What are your priorities? Who are your priorities?

Recognize where to place the people in your life. Some people are simply acquaintances, some people are friends and some people are close like family. When you know where to put the people in your life, you’re able to attribute accountability and expectations accordingly.

To my future self:

1. Recognize your concerns and cares, write them down because they are valid.

2. Write “My God…” and fill in the blank. My favorite to start with is “my God is bigger than the boogie man” to remind me of who He is. This reminds me of who my God despite my concerns and cares.

3. Write what you’re thankful for, starting each sentence stem with “I am thankful for” in order to remind yourself to be grateful. Gratitude grounds you.

Don’t let perfection or idealism cause you to not be present. Keep yourself grounded and grateful by reading Gods word and intentionally expressing your gratitude to God. Your best days are ahead when you are growing in Christ. So focus on what each day brings.
