Emotional exhaustion can show up in ways we don’t always recognize. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, more irritable than usual, mentally drained, or like even small things feel like emergencies, you may be dealing with emotional exhaustion.
In today’s episode, I’m sharing a few common signs you might be emotionally exhausted, and why recognizing it is not something to feel guilty about. It’s often the first step toward healing and protecting your peace.
Sometimes it shows up in the smallest moments… like when one little inconvenience happens and suddenly you feel like you’re about to snap or shut down. That reaction isn’t weakness. It can be a sign that your heart and your mind have been carrying more than they were meant to carry… and you need real rest.
If you’re on a healing journey, learning to recognize emotional exhaustion can help you slow down, breathe again, and care for your emotional and spiritual well-being. And if this resonates with you, I want you to know that you’re not alone in this journey.
In today’s episode of Graced for the Journey, we’re talking about a reminder I’m learning in real time: everything is not an emergency, and you can find peace again.
If you’ve been in survival mode for a long time, you may still be moving like everything is urgent… even when life has slowed down. I share how that “rush, rush, rush” mindset has shown up for me (as a wife, mom, and after years of intense caregiving), and how I’m learning to slow down, breathe, and prioritize without guilt, so I can live with more peace.
We also touch on how our bodies respond to perceived urgency… fight-or-flight, stress hormones, and why your nervous system was never meant to stay on high alert all day. If you’ve been overwhelmed, stuck in “analysis paralysis,” or feeling like you can’t rest unless everything is done… this episode is for you.
Take a deep breath with me today. Peace is possible. Life isn’t just a destination… it’s the journey.
If this resonated, share it with someone who needs the reminder.
Welcome back to Graced for the Journey! I’m Shuranda, and I’m so glad you’re here for Season 2.
In this season premiere, I’m reflecting on 2025 and why so many of us felt stretched, overwhelmed, and emotionally exhausted - even when the problems weren’t “big” on paper. As we step into 2026, I’m inviting you into a new season with a new focus: protecting your peace of mind…
In this episode, we talk about:
- Why I’m starting a new season for 2026
- How seasons change (and why they must change)
- The difference between doing what’s ours to do vs. trying to do God’s job
- What it can look like to truly surrender (not just say “give it to God”)
- Why peace is possible - even when life doesn’t go as planned
If you’ve been anxious, tired of being strong, or feeling like you can’t exhale lately - this episode is for you.
Stop fighting the current and start trusting God's flow.
In this episode, I'm getting real about what it means to go with the flow when life feels overwhelming, uncertain, and exhausting. If you've been trying to control everything in your own strength - only to feel like you're working harder but getting nowhere; this message is for you.
Sometimes we're so focused on being smart, planning everything out, and doing things "the right way" that we forget to ask God what His way is. And sometimes, His way is simply to stop fighting and trust the current - even when you can't see where it's going.
In This Episode, You'll Discover:
Why fighting against the current leaves you exhausted and stuck
The river metaphor: what it means to trust God through life's changing seasons
How to navigate the scary "waterfall moments" when you can't see what's next
Why God loves you too much to let you drown—and what that means for your journey
What "going with the flow" actually looks like in real life (especially during hard seasons, transitions, and loss)
How to find peace when you're just trying to get to tomorrow
Here's the truth:
The current knows where it's going. God knows where He's taking you. And after that big drop - the one you can't see beyond - there's beauty, peace, and calm waiting for you. 💙
If you're in a season where people keep asking, "What's your plan?" and you're just like, "Girl, I'm trying to get to tomorrow" - this episode is for you. You're not behind. You're not failing. You're learning to trust God's flow, and that's exactly where you need to be.

Feeling stuck and don't know why? That hidden pain might actually be grief - and it's quietly holding you back.
Hidden grief is more dangerous than obvious grief because it isolates you, compounds over time, and keeps you stuck in ways you can't see. In this episode, I'm breaking down why unrecognized grief is so powerful and how to identify it before it takes over your life.
In this episode, you'll discover:
✅ Why hidden grief is harder to heal than obvious grief
✅ How it isolates you (even when you're surrounded by people)
✅ Why grief compounds when it stays hidden
✅ 5 types of hidden grief: Career, family, relationship, identity, and faith
✅ How to recognize it before it controls your life
Grief isn't always about death. Sometimes it's about disappointment, unmet expectations, and the life you thought you'd have. But when grief stays hidden, it doesn't just hurt - it multiplies.
You deserve to heal, not just cope.
You're exhausted. All your tests come back normal. You're angry at people who seem to have it all together. You have unexplained pain in your body. What if I told you - you're not broken, you're not crazy, you're not failing... you're just grieving and don't even know it?
Welcome to Graced for the Journey. I'm Shuranda Hall, and today we're talking about HIDDEN GRIEF - the grief nobody expects you to have. Not just death, but lost opportunities, broken dreams, the body you once had, friendships that ended, marriages that didn't go as planned, and the future you expected but haven't reached yet.
IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL DISCOVER:
• What hidden grief really is and why it's so dangerous
• How grief manifests in your body when it's not processed
• Why society doesn't recognize certain types of grief
• 5 signs you're dealing with hidden grief right now:
✓ Exhausted with no medical explanation
✓ Angry at people who seem to have what you want
✓ Avoiding certain people, places, or celebrations
✓ Feeling guilty for not being more grateful
✓ Going through the motions but not truly present
• 3 practical steps to start healing today
• Why grief and gratitude can coexist in the same person
If you're feeling stuck, exhausted, or angry and can't figure out why - this episode is for you. Hidden grief can manifest as depression, anxiety, resentment, spiritual crisis, and even physical pain. But here's the truth: you CAN heal from grief, not just cope with it forever.

Has anyone ever told you "you should be over it by now"?
In Episode 23 of Graced for the Journey, I'm offering my sincerest apology on behalf of anyone who's ever made you feel like your grief has an expiration date.
Today, we're busting the dangerous myth that "time heals all wounds." Because here's the truth: time alone doesn't heal grief—it just makes you better at surviving it.
Real healing requires the right tools, proper support, and most importantly, permission to grieve at YOUR pace - not someone else's timeline.
In this episode, I share:
• Why "you should be over it by now" is one of the most harmful things you can say to someone grieving
• The difference between surviving grief and actually healing from it
• Why your grief timeline doesn't have to match anyone else's
• What real healing looks like (spoiler: you'll still have moments of sadness, and that's okay)
• My personal story of losing my daughter Marie and discovering that healing is possible
Whether you've experienced child loss, miscarriage, divorce, job loss, or you're grieving a life that didn't turn out the way you planned—your pain is valid. You don't have to "just get over it," but you also don't have to stay stuck in survival mode forever.
You have permission to grieve. You have permission to take your time. And you also have permission to heal.
