November 12, 2023 The Golden Altar of Incense: Messiah Our Prayer
"Prayer is the vital breath of the Christian; not the thing that makes him alive, but the evidence that he is alive."
As we approach the last item in the sanctuary, we see a square, golden box with horns on four corners and tendrils of smoke rising from its center. Morning and evening, the priests placed hot coals from the brazen altar on it and poured incense over them, filing the Holy Place with an aroma reserved for this sacred moment alone.
This act of worship represents prayer: first, Messiah's continual intercession for us; secondly, our's for others. John reveals these prayers are kept in a censer in heaven, indicating our prayers are of eternal value. How much incense have we added to the censer lately?

As the world around us celebrates darkness, let us remember we are children of light. As the saying goes, "The darker the night, the brighter the light shines."
The question is: are we shining brightly? Remember, a flame burns best when its wick is clean.
In the Tabernacle, the priests were commanded to wash their hands and feet regularly. This took place at the seventh article of our study-the Brazen Laver. It spoke of three elements of purification I will show you in today's message.
The main point is: God wanted His ministers to be clean. Jesus said in John 15, "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you." When we are cleansed by the Word, we will shine brightly and the Lord will be glorified.

We often say God instructed Moses to construct the Tabernacle so man could get to God. Yet, the more I study the 50 chapters of its pattern, I realize God started with Himself. The Ark of the Covenant, the Mercy Seat, the Table of Showbread, the Golden Menorah, the Veil...
Finally, we come to the brazen Altar - the place where we usually begin. Now that we know more about how holy and wonderful God is, we can begin to comprehend how unholy and undone we are. You see, we must "believe that God is" before we can receive His perfect sacrifice at the Brazen Altar.

The Veil was made of scarlet, blue, purple, and fine linen with depictions of cherubim intricately woven in its tapestry. It hung ominously, preventing anyone from entering the Holy of holies-except the high priest once a year.
Israel amplified God's design to a four-inch thickness when they made the Temple Veil, insuring no unworthy person had access to the presence of a thrice-holy God.
Then the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world was born of a virgin, lived a perfectly virtuous life, and died a vicarious death for all humanity. And the veil was rent in two-opening THE path to God-once and for all!
Now all who are cleansed by the blood of the Jesus Christ are beckoned to "come boldly to the throne of grace." Have you? If not, the pathway is open today!

November 12, 2023 The Golden Candlestick: Christ our Power
With three layers of various materials covering the windowless tent, the Golden Menorah provided the only light in the Holy Place. Made of pure, beaten gold, six branches fanned out from a single stem to complete seven lamps filled with olive oil. They symbolized the only true illumination which flows from God to man.
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." He then said, "Ye are the light of the world." With Jesus now in Heaven, and we the only light in a dark world, our job would be impossible were it not for the filling of the Holy Spirit.
