It seems logical that we would follow last week's message on the Mercy Seat with a focus on the Veil and Alter of Incense. However, the narrative skips to the Table of Shewbread. I tried to hold to my "orderly" plan, but the Holy Spirit kept returning me to the order of Scripture.

Last week we began a study of the simple yet beautiful tent called the "Tabernacle." We explained the anatomy and testimony of the Ark of the Covenant. We learned God is trustworthy and that we can rest in His promises.

You could search all of the magnificent temples and pyramids in the world powers of the day and never find the awesome presence of the One True God. Instead, He chose a small 15-cubit space deep within a simple, yet beautiful tent, as a meeting place. A wooden box covered in gold called the "Ark of the Covenant" would be the perfect spot. The Ark was not only a place to meet with God, it also housed the symbols of God's sacred promises to His people. They could rest in the security that He would satisfy them with His resources, sanctify them with His resurrection, and justify them with His righteousness. In other words, He would be all they ever needed.

For several weeks we have studied through the Ten Commandment-or the "constitution" of the new nation of Israel. They take up seventeen verses in Chapter 20.

Today, brother John Teichert preaches on the fruits of our labor. Brother Teichert urges us to focus on the "real things" and to avoid the fake and flashy things that can so easily distract us in this busy and loud world. Our success in this discernment very directly affects the fruits of our labor.

Today we come to the 10th of the Ten Commandments, "Thou shalt not covet." Remember, these commands are not the way to Heaven, but the guardrails for living on earth. In the vernacular of our sermon titles, here are all ten:

This week, our Walk This Way series through Isaiah brings us to chapter 62, where Israel has been identified as forsaken and desolate. But just as with the Christian today, God's plans and promises had not expired.  He is looking for someone to use.  God wants to work, but ours is to identify, intercede and inspire.
