What kind of faith does it take to save your family? In a word, it takes the faith of Noah. His faith enabled him to stand against all of society and build an ark “to the saving of his house.” In Hebrews 11:7 the steps to Noah’s great faith are given in detail. Enoch walked with God. In fact, as the little boy understood it, “He walked so much with God that one day God said, ‘Enoch, why don’t you come to my house for the night.’ And Enoch ended up staying at God’s house forever.” 

That’s the kind of walk God wants with you and me. Our hope is that one day soon God will say, “My child, why don’t you come up to my house?” It can’t be much longer…keep walking with God!

Temptation is a powerful influence. It is pictured in our message today as a ravenous beast crouching near our door, ready to pounce when we stubbornly go our own way. Cain rejects God’s warning and ends up a murderer. The “way of Cain” continues to tempt us today. In order to overcome we must trust in the blood atonement of Jesus Christ and be ready to fight for our spiritual freedom.

Temptation to sin is always a trap we must avoid. Here are two key words to remember: when dealing with fleshly sins — RUN; when dealing with spiritual sins — RESIST!

We were created in the image of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, with a body, soul and spirit. In the beginning all three were vibrantly alive and in union with God. But alas, sin brought death to our spirit and darkness to our soul. We must be born again! Only then will we know what it is to truly be alive and thrive — body, soul, and spirit.
