The new Star Wars nears like a battle station floating near Alderaan (too soon?), so Further Adieu continues our Star Wars tie-ins with a review of the widely-reviled Star Wars Holiday Special. So here’s a thing – on this week’s Further Adieu, we ended up having a long discussion on American politics and the meaning of democracy, which doesn’t really fit in with the podcast’s mission statement of bad movies and dick jokes. But Josh feels that some of it is compelling, and, as the one who edits and posts these things, he’s decided to post it anyway. So here you are. Be warned – it really is just over ten minutes of talk about politics. So don’t come crying to us.

The next Star Wars is going to be in theaters soon, so the next entry in our never-ending cavalcade of tie-in episodes looks at some Star Wars comics, specifically the first arcs by Brian Wood and Jason Aaron. Josh tries to take you through his emotional journey with the property, but Ora and Kyle keep wanting to make the episode about basic-ass hamburgers and fusion dongs instead. Box office returns be damned, we’re continuing our celebration of the Justice League here on Further Adieu. This week, Josh, Ora, and Kyle watch Legends of the SuperHeroes, possibly the only DC television effort more pathetic than the Justice League of America pilot. Along the way, we’ll discuss Charlie Callas, Ruth Buzzi, Frank Gorshin, and other comic mainstays that really have very little business in what is ostensibly an action-adventure show. With the latest DCU film out to a responding cry of “meh,” it’s time for the TPWND crew to dive in to the World’s Finest superhero team, the Justice League. Now, we could look at more recent incarnation of the team, but, being a bunch of old curmudgeons, we thought it would be more fun to look at some decades-old versions instead. Thus, Josh, Ora, and Kyle discuss the Giffen/ Justice League International and the first volume of Grant Morrison’s JLA run. We talk about mysterious New Avengers, the best Green Lanterns, and weird Batman poses. Everyone was saying to go see the Thor movie, so we went ahead and watched Thor Vs. The Amazons, and frankly, we were not impressed. They seem to have discarded most of Marvel’s classic continuity in favor of talking about some new guy named “Taur” and his mysterious and yet bountiful milk.
