We have our first guests! The Dudes sit down with Tai and Antony from the Across the Bar Podcast and discuss their experiences as a gay man and a trans woman. 

Staying informed is one of, if not THE, most important thing you can do, especially now more than ever in this ever changing and incredibly crazy world we are living in. As a dude, sometimes we have it easier, which makes it even more important that we stay informed.

The balance of seeking validation from others vs. being secure in your own choices is fine line. Having a solid foundation of the two is healthy however also challenging.

Our favorite phrase here on the modern dude is “know thyself”. And that can be utilized in no better way than knowing your own limits.  This is applicable in all sorts of ways including over working, being a yes man, and especially partying.

I’m not sure when or why it became “unmanly” to ask for help but man if it isn’t stupid as hell. Let’s put our pride to the side and do the task at hand the correct and easier way!

Look. We are guys. We have egos and testosterone a plenty. But putting your hands on another person is never it. Our mindset should always be directed towards diffusing a situation and being the bigger man.

Trying something new can be overwhelming whether we as Dudes want to admit it or not. However taking a step outside our comfort zone can lead us to invaluable new life experiences.

Society has told Men to suppress their emotions because they need to be tough and detached. This leaves a huge void for being able to express feelings to friends and loved ones when times get hard. This can lead to real problems and stunted emotional growth. 

Guys grow up with an “iron sharpens iron” mentality. This sometime leads to a competitive mindset that leaves little room for humility. Being humble is as attractive as it is important to personal growth, especially for the Modern Dude.
