My apologies to those of you who are regular listeners of the podcast on Mondays. I had a few glitches this past weekend in preparation for some different trips, and I was so consumed with those that I never recorded my podcast episode!
So, it comes out a day-and-a-half later than usual. While that is probably not a very big deal to most of you, it bothers me because I had never missed or been late in releasing an episode of the podcast in the first 176 episodes.
Oh well, instead of beating myself up over it, I need to focus on the positive that A) I had gone 176 weeks in a row without ever missing or being late with it, and B) that means I have recorded 177 podcast episodes. When I started doing the podcast, I had hoped to hit some of those kinds of milestones like 50, 100, and so forth. Well, my gosh, 177 episodes is no small accomplishment, so I need to embrace it and enjoy it!
Anyway, today I have one quote for you from a very unlikely source. It is a good quote that gets at the heart of what it takes to live a life of significance.

Our new background music, starting with Episode 300, is "Pulse of Time - Corporate Rock" by TunePocket.
Our background music for the first 5 years of the podcast was "Dance in the Sun" by Krisztian Vass.
We follow up the last few week's ideas on significance in quotes by Oprah Winfrey, Michael Josephson, Ken Blanchard, Jackie Robinson, Nelson Mandela, Sean Michael Norris, and John Maxwell with three new quotes on significance.
These quotes talk about a few concepts: where significance comes from, the impact that we have on others, even when we aren't necessarily thinking about it, and the power and importance of caring for others.
These quotes also help expand on the concepts of significance that I have been discussing as I build the SlamDunk Significance program that I told you about a couple of months ago. You can check out my new SlamDunk Significance program at slamdunksignificance.com.

We follow up the last few week's ideas on significance in quotes by Oprah Winfrey, Michael Josephson, Ken Blanchard, Jackie Robinson, and Nelson Mandela with two more quotes. These two are by Sean Michael Norris and, once again, John Maxwell.
Each of these quotes talks about the importance of focusing on significance each day. The Norris quote has a unique approach to the concept, while the Maxwell quote is exactly what you would expect from Maxwell—something that is spot-on if we want to bring value to others..
Both quotes also continue to expand on the concepts of significance that I have been discussing as I build the SlamDunk Significance program that I told you about a few weeks ago. You can check out my new SlamDunk Significance program at slamdunksignificance.com.

Each of these quotes gets at the heart of what a true life of significance deals with—the impact that one has on other people. When you consider the two men who said these quotes, they are even more powerful, for these two men were two of the most impactful people our world has ever known.
Both quotes also continue to expand on the concepts of success and significance that I have been discussing as I build the SlamDunk Significance program that I told you about a few weeks ago. You can check out my new SlamDunk Significance program at slamdunksignificance.com.

We follow up last few week's ideas on significance in a quote by Oprah Winfrey with two quotes this week. One of the quotes is by Michael Josephson, the director of Character Counts, and the other quote is by author, leadership, and personal development guru, Ken Blanchard.
Both quotes continue to expand on the concepts of success and significance that I have been discussing as I build the SlamDunk Significance program that I told you about a few weeks ago. Josephson and Blanchard both show us the value of seeking significance in order to bring us the success that we seek.
I also talk a bit more about my SlamDunk Significance mission in this episode. If you are interested in finding out more about how you can become part of this mission to help coaches become coaches of significance in kids' lives by providing opportunities for kids to have positive athletic experiences, go to SlamDunkSignificance.com

We kick off Season 7 of the podcast with a follow-up to the last few week's ideas on significance and my new program called SlamDunk Significance with a quote from Oprah Winfrey.
This quote continues to expan on the concepts of success and significance that I have been discussing as I build the SlamDunk Significance program that I told you about a few weeks ago. Oprah nails a few concepts I have strongly believed in for many years now as a teacher and coach, and I think you will find them extremely powerful for you, too.

We follow up the last couple of week's ideas on significance and my new program called SlamDunk Significance with a quote from philosopher & poet, Friedrich Nietzsche about significance, too.
I was not ready to talk about this quote. I was ready with a whole different quote that I have wanted to talk about for quite a while. However, quotes and ideas about the concept of "significance" keep showing up in my life. This quote showed up this morning in a book of inspirational ideas that I was reading. You'll hear more about it in the episode.
This quote is perfect for what I am doing right now trying to build the SlamDunk Significance program that I told you about a couple of weeks ago. Go to SlamDunkSignificance.com to find out more about how you can join me on this mission.

We follow up last week's announcement about my new program called SlamDunk Significance with a quote that was one of the most impactful quotes for coaches that I have ever seen. It comes to us from Bruce Brown, the Founder and Director of Proactive Coaching.
As most of you know I am a speaker on the Proactive Coaching team. It has been one of the great joys and honors of my coaching life to be a member of this team. Bruce has taught me so much that has had such a huge impact on me as a coach, teacher, leader, and parent. You need to check out Proactive Coaching's website to see all the great things that we have to offer.
Today's quote was a post that Bruce did on the Proactive Coaching Facebook page a few years back. It was called "Coaching for Significance," and as I said, it was one of the most impactful things I've ever read. You're going to love it!

Well, this is it. I have been telling you for 11 weeks that I have a mission, project, venture, or whatever you want to call it in mind that the book Change Your World, by John Maxwell and Rob Hoskins gave me so many signs saying it's time to get going on.
In today's episode, I reveal what that mission is. I am so excited to get this out to the world, and I hope you will be, too.
You can be a big part of it. Depending on who you are and what your focus is, there is a place for you to be a part of it. There are three different groups of people who will be affected by it. Whichever group you belong to (and you might even be in two of them or all three!), I would love to have you join us on this mission.
Listen to the episode and then go to SlamDunk Significance to get involved. It is in its infancy stage, and I will be working out the bugs and kinks in it over the next few weeks and months, but you will hear my Moonshot Goal in the episode. I hope you will join me on my quest to achieve it and to help more kids have the best experiences possible.

Ok, first of all, let me say, "Don't let the length of this episode scare you away." I know it's long compared to most of my episodes, but it is filled with great quotes and ideas from a few different sources.
Last week was the final week of our discussions of the book "Change Your World" by John Maxwell and Rob Hoskins. This week we wrap up our series based on that book by doing something a little different than what I thought I was going to do at the start of the series through about the 2/3 mark in it.
Around that time, I finished reading another book that also had a lot of powerful ideas and inspiration to take steps to change our world, and I thought, "Hmmm. This book also has some really good ideas in it that I want to share with everyone."
So, instead of me talking about my mission/project that Change Your World jumpstarted me to begin doing, I decided to talk today about that book first as a wrap-up to the series. Next week, I will begin talking about the project/mission I am beginning, and how you can be a part of it. (And yes, I will have quotes to talk about that are a huge part of the mission.)
