It is called many things: The Truth, The Law, Scripture, The Word. The bible is God’s letter to humanity, and It is supernatural in its origin. It is a collection of 66 books written by forty different people over sixteen hundred years. Even so, the bible has uniformity and consistency. The books work together and flow. One book does not contradict another, but all communicate the same theme and story. Archaeological artifacts have validated and upheld the bible many times over. Other ancient writings do not stand up to that same standard. Scholars studying Shakespeare’s works observed voids and omissions that had to be filled to make a cohesive story.
The word of God is significant. It is not enough to read it, to memorize it, or to quote it. We have to get the word down in our souls so that it is a part of us. We must study it and strive to incorporate it into our life. The word has restorative and protective power. It can heal the hurts and wounds in our lives and sets us on the right path.
The word is active. The bible tells us that there is healing in the word. That there is freedom in the word. The word is a light to our path, and it produces faith in our life. It makes us wise, and it convicts us of what is right. It is a truth that we can carry anywhere, and it can be trusted. There is nothing more powerful than the Word of God
