When God moves, He does so for a purpose. A service where God moves can be refreshing, but God has a greater purpose than just our refreshing. We must have a sense and a sensitivity to what God is doing and look deeper than what we are feeling. God is bringing people to the church. These people are hurting, lost, and needing a place of healing. We have to create an atmosphere where God can work in their lives. There are about five channels through which God moves. He will not move the same way every time, and we have to learn to discern how He is moving to know how to react appropriately. The way God moves is dictated by who is present and what they need. God knows who will be there and what they need before they even gather together. Our text uses the illustration of a farmer planting different crops. The farmer has the wisdom to know what to plant where and how to harvest the different crops. When we learn to discern how God is moving, we prepare ourselves with the wisdom to reap the outcome that God desires.

He was the chief tax collector and held great power. Why was a man who had all the things that our world wants: wealth, power, and prestige, so interested in Jesus that day? Somehow all the things he had were not enough. Zacchaeus was a lost man. He had lost his identity. He had lost sight of what mattered in his life. He was hungry for something more. When we hunger for more, God takes notice. That morning, Jesus knew about Zacchaeus’ hunger and purposely went to Jerico. Jesus didn’t happen to see Zachieus as He passed the tree; Jesus was looking for him. Jesus called Zacchaeus by name. Jesus knew Zacchaeus’s name, just as He knows each of us. The love of the Lord never ends in our life. The mercies of God are not just for a time our life, but they are renewed every day. God’s faithfulness is so large that we cannot express it adequately. God orders our steps. We endured storms, floods, and other adversities. In every case, no matter how difficult, God has never failed us. Great Is Thy Faithfulness.
