We have all had times in life when we have felt that we were cheated. No one likes to be cheated and no one likes a cheater. We most often feel that it is others that cheat us, but there are many times when we cheat ourselves. IN our text, two men went to church. One left blessed and full, but the other left cheated and empty. The difference was their attitude. One felt as if he didnt need anything. The other knew that he needed it all. We we walk out of Church not getting what we needed, it is because we have not accepted what God has to offer.

We have all had times in life when we have felt that we were cheated. No one likes to be cheated and no one likes a cheater. We most often feel that it is others that cheat us, but there are many times when we cheat ourselves. IN our text, two men went to church. One left blessed and full, but the other left cheated and empty. The difference was their attitude. One felt as if he didnt need anything. The other knew that he needed it all. We we walk out of Church not getting what we needed, it is because we have not accepted what God has to offer.

So much of our life is spent wanting to be understood and recognized. We spend a lot of time getting our story out. Most importantly, we want our story to be told correctly. We want people to understand our actions and decisions. Often we cannot do that and are, like Job, judged for the situations in our life. They were never able to see the real truth of Job’s story. The story of our life that we present on social media is not alway the accurate portrayal. We spin the truth to be the most favorable to our situation. We have all experienced the altering of our story by others that cloud the true picture. We have all been judged harshly because of decisions and situations in our life. How many of us have wanted to scream inside as we deal with situations that are hidden from the world? The great burden of life is that we cannot always tell our side of the story. Wouldn’t it be good to know that there will come a day that this will be all be turned around. It is easy to read our text and conclude that in order to have revival, we must make restitution and go back and make it right. It is not about US making it right; HE will make it right. The bible is clear that there will be a day of reckoning for each of us where the true story will be told. One of these days we will all give an account of our life to God. Today’s message is not about judgment and reckoning. It is a message about vindication when God will tell our story correctly. All of the lies, hurts, slander and misrepresentations will fade to the background as God Himself tells the story. Every story will be made right. That day will be a clearing up of all things pertaining to our life. All that the things that people wondered about or questioned will be told that day. All the hidden sorrows and rejections and unseen choices will be explained that day. Try as we might, we cannot get our story out, but God can. I have to trust and live for the day when God will tell My Story.

God wants us to succeed more than we ourselves want it. That requires a holy obedience. We are not destined to succeed unless we are dedicated to succeed. Too many people believe in predestiny and live their lives as if obedience does not matter. In our text, Israel had come to their destiny. The Jordan lay before them and God gave specific instructions. The next phase of their journey required more preparation than any that had come before. He required that they participate. God will not fulfill our destiny if we are not an obedient participant. At any time of transition, it is important to be in tune with what God is saying. First God addresses the most important part of their journey: Divine guidance. They were instructed to follow the Ark. They were instructed to follow it at a specific distance; not too far behind, and not too close. Then he told them to sanctify themselves. It meant to put away everything that was alien to divine life; to give themselves completely to God. As a people, they were to focus their life on Him and Him alone. If we will follow Him and sanctify ourselves, we will see wonders.
