Beloved character with 1st grade girls

Mittens is a beloved characters with my 1st grade students, especially the girls. The stories remind me of Biscuit. They are simple but engaging, with some repetition in terms of word choice and sentence format. This is a good book for kids reading at 1st grade level.

Best. Book. Ever.

My 8yr old daughter LOVES every single book in the Molly Moon series. She is heartbroken that there are only six books, as she is half way through the final book now. Each book is funny, exciting, suspenseful, surprising, and cool, (my daughters words). We are still wishfully hoping Georgia Byng will write a 7th! My daughter highly recommends this series! I can't say I've heard of another book series where every single book is great, one after another.

Cool

Georgia can make one love or hate any character any time she wants. She has the most conniving and mind boggling twists and turns and I actually cannot take it one chapter a day, because it takes such a toll on me, as I get into the book totally and emotionally become so invested in it that I actually start living it!

Georgia Byng is the greatest children's novelist in Britain now!

I love these books!!!!

I love these books and I love Georgia Byng's work! Molly Moon books are incredibly clever, fun-filled, and filled to the brim with action. I'm reading the next one ASAP!

Five Stars

I can't tell you how much I liked it!!!!!!

Great

My 10-yr-old and 14-yr-old girls both love this series. We bought them all!

A Good Book.

A good book. I remember when my dad bought it for me as a kid and I was able to buy it for my children recently. It appears that the book was changed a bit over the years from what I remember of it as a kid. Nonetheless, it was a good book to read to my children.

One of my favorite childhood books

One of my favorite childhood books! So glad I was able to find it after all these years!! Such a sweet story!

Fun Little Children's Mystery

Crosby Bonsall has a great formula for writing children's "who done-it" type stories. Easy for younger children to read but entertaining enough for adults to enjoy as well.

The Case of the Cats Meow by Crosby Bonsall

This book, along with other books by Crosby Bonsall, is a great way to start your children reading their first mystery book. Bonsall creates characters that are both true to life and very friendly. My second graders have taken off with reading using these funny and at time puzzling books. The characters have become their friends. The children eagerly await the next adventures of the Wizard Gang. A must for early readers ready for a challenge.

books for grandchildren

I occasionally look for books that my grandchildren would enjoy reading and it is always good to find a book that brings back memories of years gone by.

This book is helping me teach my grandson to read. My grandson loves dogs so he enjoys the Marley books.

Great series of books!

Loved this book. My little 2 1/2 yr. old Granddaughter laughed out loud. These are great books to keep young readers entertained. I will keep buying books about Marley until I own them all.

Great series about a great character

I was looking for new books for my child over the summer between first and second grades and stumbled upon this Marley series. She loves animals and I was familiar with Marley from the original book "Marley and Me" so I thought she'd like reading about Marley's antics. Yup - a big success for her and me!

My grandson loves to read these books on his own.

Same as above (Messy Dog)

Luuuuuuuv it!### very VERY good!!!!!! 5 stars brilliant!!!! Great book!! Very much enjoyed it!!! AMAZING!!

Kids love it but narration is "shouty"

This is probably the story my 6 yr old boy asks for most. The combination of imaginative cartoon action, followed by "what actually happened" is really very funny.

My problem is the narrator seems to think that SHOUTING is the way to emphasise exciting parts of the story. And there are A LOT OF EXCITING BITS!!!!

Even with the front speakers in our car off, this results in a very distracting audiotrack. Not great if you are trying to listen to the satnav / concentrate on a busy stretch of motorway. Hence the 4 stars.

Perfect for Kindergarten Level

Now that my daughter has entered kindergarten and is starting to read more I've been looking for more Kindle books. This one is perfect. Part of her nightly homework is that I must read to her and not have her follow along with the words but with the picture. It's a great learning process. She can practically "read" the book from these pictures. This books has pictures throughout that advance the story and its a simple story. I believe there are more in this series and I'll be getting them for her as well.

The print is too small

The print is too small and it looks like they just photographed the book and inserted it in Kindle. I had to read it to my great grand because the print was so small so it defeated the purpose of I can read it.

book

My granddaughters liked this book. They are in first grade. We had to read it a little at a time.

Varjak is the cat's pyjamas.

Where does Varjak Paw rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

Top twenty, yes indeed.

What other book might you compare Varjak Paw to, and why?

Haven't read anything like it, not being a cat lover, but I'd say it has a vague ring of Disney's The Aristocats about it

What does Andrew Sachs bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?

Mr Sachs brings a smooth rich telling of a wonderfully written story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Beautiful and witty, it sounds like a classic
