Great condition

Great read!!!

My son loves this book, he's almost 6 and we've been reading it for almost a year. Full of funny words and characters. Great!

Fantastic Adventure Stories for Preschoolers Who Are Eager To Read

We bought this book for our avid 3.5 year old reader simply because it sounded interesting and was featured in our local bookstore on a Buy 1 Get 1 Free Offer (note: We live in Britain). However, once we had it home, not only did our son absolutely LOVE it, it fast became a family favourite and we have already snapped up the second book and are highly anticipating the next! Theses are books for children who are very keen on reading but still enjoy vivid pictures to go along with their stories or for those just starting chapter stories. Stephenson has done an outstanding job of introducing more complex language to these children without taking away from the excitement of seeing the words come alive by illustration. Whether your reader is, as our's, quite young, or a bit older, these stories are FANTASTIC and very, very, very moreish!

A literary classic, even without pictures

While I would have enjoyed this more with the original Beatrix Potter paintings, the story is just fine on its own. Its got this not-quite-subtle racial backstory to it which is a lot more apparent when you see the children's book with accompanying paintings. Love the story. I can understand why Duchess wouldn't like mouse, no matter how finely minced it is.

Five Stars

Love Beatrix Potter and there are so many lovely books that you just can't find in the stores

Not what it states it should be...

The book arrived with plain text that looked like it was printed on an ink jet printer, but faint There were no illustrations and many blank pages. Buyers Beware!

the favorite around here

if you ever want to hear your 3yo walking around dramatically saying 'a little dog indeed, as if there were no cats in Sawry! And pie for afternoon tea - the very idea!' then this book is for you. I don't think she understands what's REALLY happening in this book, but she clearly loves it as both of us can pretty much quote the entire thing based on the sheer number of times I've been requested to read it!

Potter, none better.

Potter is classic and should remain so. She never treats children or the adults who read to them , as anything but intelligent human beings.

So grammar and a few things might have changed with time. That becomes the reader's chance to become creative.

Narrator: Joanna Pinnock, Alan Smith, Kathy Clugston

Format: Unabridged

Length: 55 mins

Language: English

Release date: 03-17-10

Publisher: The Story Mouse

Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 1 votes

Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7

Publisher's Summary:

In Cinderella and Other Stories, you'll find four of the world's most popular children's stories and fairytales. Full of character, wit and fun, these stories have everything from a glass slipper to an invisible suit of clothes!

Cinderella

Could this be the ultimate fairy tale? We all know Charles Perrault's story of Cinderella, and this re-telling with its wonderful range of characters has all the elements we love: a fairy godmother, a glass slipper, and of course a handsome prince. Joanna Pinnock is the reader of her own adaptation, complete with voice characterisations and bags of fun. If you're a fan of magical stories that children will want to listen to again and again, this is a must-have!

The Elves and the Shoemaker

It's a mystery just who is visiting the shoemaker's workshop every night to make the most fantastic shoes? The shoemaker and his wife can't work it out, but they're determined to find out so that they can repay the kindness. What they discover leaves them speechless! Alan Smith is the reader of this re-telling of one of Grimm's best-loved fairytales. Delivered in a soft, gentle style, this story is perfect for bedtime.

The Princess and the Pea

This is the story of a very unconventional princess who's happier stomping around in her muddy boots than floating around in ball gowns. So when she turns up unannounced at the neighbouring castle, the queen (who happens to be looking for someone for her son, the prince to marry) can't believe she'll be a suitable daughter-in-law. But what follows shows that appearances can be deceptive. Does our princess marry the prince? Find out when Kathy Clugston reads Moy McGowan's adaptation of this Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale with a surprising twist at the end!

Also includes The Emperor's New Clothes.

Members Reviews:

Lovely stories, beautifully read

This is a lovely collection of stories and the readers deliver them beautifully too. There's no distracting sound effects or music and this is a good thing - my little one gets completely absorbed (she does a wonderful impression of the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella!). I know there are other albums from the same author and will be checking those out too. All in all, a lovely, well-read collection of favourites.

Editorial Reviews:

This iMinds discussion of the Cold War takes on heady issues rooted in ideology, economics, human rights, and armed conflict, and nevertheless manages to render them in clear, straightforward terms that young listeners will be able to understand. Australian actress Leah Vandenburg describes the competing forms of government that existed in the United States and Soviet Union, and traces the conflict throughout the late 20th century as she discusses the quartering of Berlin, the Cuban Missile Crisis and threat of nuclear war, and the armed confrontations that occurred in Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Vandenburg's fluid performance and careful pacing add clarity to the proceedings, ensuring that young audiences won't be vexed by the tortuously nuanced and political nature of the Cold War.

Critic Reviews:

"I'm learning all sorts of stuff about stuff I didn't even know I didn't know. And it sticks. In a nutshell: wonderful." (Jonathon Margolis, Financial Times)
