Five Stars

VERY PLEASED

Perfectly beautiful book for family sharing.

I could hardly believe my good fortune to find my favorite Robert Frost poem had been illustrated by my favorite illustrator! This is much better than another "kiddie book about reindeer" This is a book to read aloud and share with the extended family. What an introduction to real poetry for the younger ones! I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Fun sound effects

I'm using this book as part of trying to learn German. With a few exceptions, the stories are read in a clearly enunciated fashion. The narrators do a good job of reading the stories in an engaging manner. The producers have added sound effects which help accentuate the plot. I suspect that these would make this version more engaging for children since they're the sort of sound effects an adult might add when reading to a child.

Diar of a Wimpy Kid type book

Cody is mad because his mom committed him to go to Brianas birthday party and Cody hates Briana. So Cody decides to take her a big box of toads for a present. But when he and Josh go into the swamplands to catch the toads they find a really cool cave. It is in this cave that Cody finds a secret that will change things for a long time and Brianas birthday as well.

This book was cute and I think it reminds me most of the books along the lines of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I really liked narrator Jon Diiennos depiction of how things are, and the voices he gave to everyone. He made me see the story and the world it was happening in through his words and his voice.

Great for young kids!

This is a great audiobook for young children. I played this for my 5-year-old and 6-year-old children while in the car on trips that lasted more than 20 minutes. They were fully entertained by the story and the narration!

Boys will be boys!

Unhappy about being forced to go to a girls birthday party, young Cody and Josh head to the swamplands to get a bucket of toads which they plan to let lose at the party. When the boys get lost, however, the story takes a darker turn.

These mischievous boys are typically naughty and the narrator, Jon Diienno, brings them to life with gleeful petulance. They bicker, plot, explore and double-dare each other, and its all captured nicely in Miranda Hardys writing and Diiennos reading.

I had to listen to this short story twice because, in the first run, I was surprised at how dark the story got during the second half, particularly for such a young target audience. The second time around it didnt seem so tense. Even so, Id recommend parents listen to it first before deciding if its suitable for their own children.

Miranda Hardy is an entertaining writer for young kids, and they should easily relate to the central boys in particular. Its their story, and the characters are well-developed. The tale is simple but satisfying and, running only 25 minutes, its an easy listen for families.

I love kids stories. Theres something refreshing and fun about the juvenile characters and the much simpler plots that dont work in adult books. A well-written childrens book offers a great break from the complexities of adult life and entertainment, and I have enormous respect for an author who can write age-appropriate characters and stories. I firmly believe that writing for kids is much harder than writing for adults.

Excellent choice for auditory learners

Very pleasant speaking voices, the classical music is well done and offsets the stories nicely without overwhelming the narrative. The stories have morals well worth listening to in the car or at bedtime. The prose is well-written and has an excellent selection of vocabulary words presented in a very straight-forward and intelligent format. Thumbelina was one of the stories with which I was previously familiar and the others will soon become favorites, as with most of Hans Christian Anderson. Wonderful way to expose children to the written word in an interesting format. The stories do not seem to be altered from the original prose, although I would have to check that to be sure. Excellent choice for auditory learners.
