    Publisher's Summary:
This truly original tale based on a legendary monster is sure to crack up kids and grown-ups alike!
Jayna, Bumsie, and Pep are goats. And, like most goats, their greatest fear is being eaten for dinner by the legendary Chupacabra, as it is common knowledge that goats are a chupacabra's favorite food! One night, tired of living in fear, the impetuous goats whip out their trusty candelabra and head off to find the beast and scare it away before it can find them. Little do they know that candelabras are the chupacabra's third-favorite food - a fact he reports after he's gobbled up theirs. Unfortunately, he's still hungry - for his second-favorite food. Fortunately, that's not goats, either - it's cucarachas! When those are gone, too, he announces that he's now hungry for his favorite food - and the goats are in for their biggest surprise.

    Unique cute book
Cute story! Similar to a three little pigs type tale. Nice illustrations!
    Charming book
    Delightful! Delicious!
    Five Stars
    Fantastic! Loved it.
    Great illustrations for uninspiring text
The illustrations are colorful and engaging and the best part of this book by far. Aranda did a great job. I especially loved her renditions of the chupacabra which highlight the dichotomy of his true, friendly nature with his reputation as a goat-eater. When the goats are thinking about how scared they are of the chupacabra, we see him as dark and colorless, lurking, and scary. When we see the chupacabra directly though, we recognize that he is usually smiling and painted both vibrantly and beautifully. Despite this, the goats still see what they expect and are focused on his shadow which appears menacing. The goats are so preoccupied with what they think they see that they fail to really look at the chupacabra and see him for himself. Great lesson.
The illustrations really tell the story which is good because I did not find the text as inspiring. In fact, I would go so far as to say reading the book felt cumbersome. So I am torn, 5-star illustrations and 2-star text makes about a 3 1/2 overall.
    Wonderfully entertaining!
I like to peruse the new children's books at my local library, and this one was a lucky find!
There is a lot of detail in the drawings, and some interesting words to add to a child's vocabulary.
As for the story itself, all I can say is it made this 30-ish year old lady laugh out loud. It was hilarious, with some fun wordplay!
I think everyone should have a copy of this on their bookshelf, because who knows when you might need a good laugh?
    I absolutely loved it!

A great classic to my LRRH collection
    Excellent inexpensive choice.
The book quality was outstanding. This is to be a keepsake for a child as part of a gift package from a grandma. The images in the book are very good and the story is fairly close to the original we grew up with. Very happy with this purchase.
The original version of the story is definitely not for kids
Everybody knows the story of Little Red Riding Hood, but what this illustrated version of the classic tale by Beni Montresor shows us is that we do not know the original story by Charles Perrault. That is not to say that readers of this version of "Little Red Riding Hood" will find anything particularly new in this version, beyond the idea that the title character is bringing a cake and a little pot of butter to her sick grandmother, but rather than certain elements that they have taken for granted lo these many years were not there in the beginning.
With his artwork Montresor lulls readers into a false sense of security, as we enjoy the familiar beginning of the story and see the little red hood that the little girl's grandmother has made for her. Most children will be amused by the dapper white suit that the wolf wears when he encounters Little Red Riding Hood in the forest (note that Perrault answers the question that many of us had when first becoming inquisitive enough to start poking holes in the story regarding why the wolf does not devour the little girl as soon as they meet in the woods). However, once the wolf replaces the grandmother in the bed and lures Little Red Riding Hood closer to his big teeth, young readers are going to quickly realize that this is not the familiar version of the story that they know.
Consequently one thing that can be said for sure is that Montresor's version of "Little Red Riding Hood" is not the first one that young children should learn. Let them become familiar with the sanitized version of the tale, which is par for the course these days (read very young children the original version of "Cinderella" where we learn what the step-sisters did to get their oversized feet to fit in the glass slipper, which will tell you why it was made of glass, and you could scar them for life). Perrault's story is much more in keeping with the grisly fairy tales of a couple of centuries back and Montresor's artwork plays up such elements, so be forewarned.
The introduction to this book is provided by the opera singer Luciana Pavarotti, who recalls how he thrilled to this tale being told by his grandfather. Pavarotti recalls how he identified with Little Red Riding Hood because he shared her fears. When you read this book you will understand why he could call this a violent, mysterious tale, especialy with Montresor's artwork to bring out those aspects of the story.

One of my favorite gifts for little kids and their grown-ups
This book delights preschoolers and adults alike with its ridiculous limericks and pictures and more. I always open it up to read "just one limerick" to my kids and am begged (and convinced, of course) to read about eleven more. I purchased my latest copy as a gift for a kindergarten student. I think it is wonderful for kids to see that this "nonsense" written well over 100 years ago can still make them giggle and be (almost) totally understandable (and understandably silly) for them. It also provides great inspiration for kids to write their own silly limericks and draw their own not-quite-perfect illustrations just for fun and silliness.
This edition is the beautiful green hardcover pictured with a ribbon bookmark in it, and I am giving it 5 stars to rectify the appalling mistake on Amazon that it should have any less (seemingly due to people receiving the wrong copy of the book-- the one I received definitely has pictures, and the Owl and the Pussycat-- and also due to a humorless philistine or two without an appreciation for the English language; in case you suspect you might be one of these, check out the many pages of this book available for preview before purchasing it!).
Dear children, not everything you write need be Serious and Deep and Highbrow. Words can be fun and ridiculous and silly. Keep a dictionary beside you as you read, and please never attempt to learn a Lear word from context clues!
Lear's original text garbled by unedited OCR use.
This edition appears to be an attempt by someone using CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform to reproduce (and profit therefrom) an original publication by Little Brown and Company. Some of the initial pages are indeed facsimiles, as are the illustrations interspersed throughout, but the rest -- the original publisher's introduction and Leer's text -- appears to have been scanned and run through an OCR program, resulting in disarranged words and lines and abundant misinterpreted letters, numbers, and punctuation marks. The text is scattered with randomly unreadable combinations of characters. There is no evidence that any of it was ever proofread.
This edition is worthless as a collection of Lear's texts. Because it was a gift given beyond the 30 day return limit, the receiver will content herself cutting out the illustrations for the children to play with, and discard the book.
    Terrible Edition
If I could, I would give two separate ratings: 5 stars for Lear's whimsy and 1 star for the publisher. This particular edition is terrible (cover pictures a path through the woods). The print is very, very small. The selections run together with little or no space between them. There are no illustrations! Edward Lear deserves better.

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7
    Publisher's Summary:
A delightful and whimsical book about good and bad manners for kids.
Gordony and Bondy are two brothers. The older brother is a bully and tries to teach his baby brother how to get respect from others while he is rude and scary them.
"Friends? Who needs friends when we can intimidate everyone and always get what we want?"
Bondy advises his little brother to be fierce, cruel, rough, harsh, and to terrorize everyone in the jungle.
All little Gordony wants is to be gentle, polite, well-mannered, and to have many friends.
When Gordony behaves as he likes, his big brother is very angry. He is worried that his sibling's manners will damage his status and bad name. The only thing he could do is to chase him away from their area.
The book is for brother's rivalry, for friendship, and what lessons we learn when we grow up. How we all are given a choice to be polite or rude.
Kids will learn what are the good manners and how will act the good and the bad person in theirs life. Every kid will love the baby brother and want to act like him and to have many real friends.
This book is perfect for bedtime listening or during some quiet time so kids can enjoy and take in the easy-to-digest ideas.

    beautiful illustrated story
This is a touching story about a child working through a very real-world (and in some ways a very adult) challenge. The details in the illustrations and story progression allow for conversation and interpretation. My 6 year old reads this to my 3 year old, teaching the lessons and values she finds in this book.
I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
    Defeats the Bully
It is an engaging story that trains children how to deal with a bully, how to overcome their fears and be brave to stand up for themselves, and no matter what, to always be proud of who they are. Children should be happy to be themselves and not let anyone lower them for who they are or weaken their self control. It's a good story for the little ones on how to be nice, kind, well mannered and put a stop to bullying. The story is an easy read and lovely images help to bring the meaning of the tale to life. I will attach his favorite images from the book.
    Meet Gordony!
Would you listen to How Gordony Defeats the Bully & Has the Courage to Be Who He Is again? Why?
Yes, this is a great audiobook I let my son listen to. Also makes for a great audiobook for both the parent and the child right before they go to sleep.
What did you like best about this story?
It emphasizes good and bad manners!
Have you listened to any of Millian Quinteross other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not yet but I am planning on listening to more of his audiobooks.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, it's quick and short children's book.

    exellent book
This is a really great idea that is absolutely beautifully illustrated. As children often demand that their parents to listen a story over and over and over and over, this story will weather the test of time and delivery each and every time it is shared. For this is a wordless story, and even with taking the time to carefully puruse each and every frame of this magical tale it can be enjoyed over and over again
