Where is the rest of the book?

This is a really fun quirky read. I liked Maggie from the start, even if she is a bit dim at times. The misunderstanding about the "partner" was a low moment for her mentally. Other than that major mindslip, I found her delightful, if not a touch self absorbed.

I was laughing out loud several times and giggling more often than not. The relationships are sweet and the supporting characters interesting and engaging. I loved they whole dynamic Maggie has with all her friends. I especially love he playfulness she has with Blake. They are a delight to read when together.

The whole book is Maggie's POV, which isn't bad, just very one sided. You have to guess at what others are thinking unless they say something outright.

I was thoroughly enjoying my reading/listening experience and then BAM, it ended!! Out of the blue total cold ending, no real resolutions of HEA!!!! WTF!! I feel so cheated. Now I have to decide if I spend another credit to get the rest of the story!! Oh, guess what, there is a book out there that combines both parts. Wish I knew that before I bought this!!

I would have ranked this higher if it had not left me short. It was a entertaining read up until the ending cutting the book short! I am really not happy about having to spend more to get the last third of the book.

Meh! Narrator ruins it!

The story itself isn't too bad. Rather juvenile, but then again the person reading the story was very very young. The heroine sounded like she was 13 years old. The hero sounded as if he had a bad case of 3 pack a day smokers voice. His father sounded younger than he did. I wonder if the authors of these books have any say in who narrates them? This narrator with her juvenile sounding voice did a major dis-service to a 3 star story. The story had quite a bit of action, although I figured out early on who was trying to kill her, so it was easy to predicate the ending.

Listen to the narrator before purchasing. The book is good for gardening, housework or that morning walk.

Standoff at Mustang Ridge

Too many gun fights, not enough intrigue. Once again there were characters insisting on face to face meetings.

Royce is an awful lawman. He didn't arrest the fiance for assault and he didn't arrest the half- brother for drugging him or Sophie.

I couldn't like Sophie because she was too much of a push over. Sophie was too easily manipulated by the men in her life. He mother made a will specifically blocking access of her money to her father and half-brother and she tried to break the will?! She doesn't press charges against her fiance and half-brother after what they did!?!?

I did not care for this narrator. While her female voices were fine, her male voices were not well done.

The Harlequin Intrigue books would be better without ridiculous sex scenes. They always make me roll my eyes. Readers have imaginations, and if the writers chose to omit the sex, we could fill in the blanks ourselves.

very disapointing

What would have made Standoff at Mustang Ridge better?

If the same thing did not happen over again and again. the same wording and the same sequence of events.are repeated through out the book and in other books I have tried. It is like a form for the book is provided and the writer just changes a few word every few sentences. There are different plots but character reactions are the same and there is always something said or happening that they did not want to hear. The same phrase is used repeatedly through out all the books that I sampled

A heartwarming, inspiring story that's applicable all year round!!

I loved this fun, heart warming story with a N'Awlins flare. You can call me biased, but the little taste of NOLA in her stories makes me happy (as well as a little homesick)! Before you put it on your "to-be read next holiday season" shelf, hear me out. Please don't let the Christmas theme deter you from picking it up, b/c although it takes place during the holidays, the theme of "not judging a book by it's cover", taking chances, and carpe diem apply year round!

From the time Mary Paige slides off a chair and accidentily reveals her Spanx to the haughty, disapproving Brennan to the tear-jearker wonderful ending, Liz's gift of story telling will warm your heart no matter what time of year it is! I suggest you grab (or download) a copy, get a hot cup of CC's, put on the tackiest pair of socks you own, and dive into this sweet, inspiring book!

I cried

I read while I'm on the bus/Train to and from work. So there I sat with tears in my eyes boobing, as I finished the book, in the middle of a bus full of business people. I didn't even care. I loved it. I liked the characters, the story and the book was very well written. Great job Liz!

Great holiday read

This is another favorite writer. It was a great holiday story.i like a variety in my reading material so after reading mysteries, contemporary fiction, and historical, it's always nice to read the struggles in a good romance book. For those who have not read any of Liz Talley's books, give one a try.

A Sweet, Fun Romance

A goodhearted girl has her own Scrooge to win over. A really nice Christmas story that would have lost a lot if the author had thrown in all the overdone and TMI sex scenes that so many authors feel necessary.

Great storyline

This book had a great storyline I love the book! I did not like the woman's voice who was narrating this book she sounded too old for the story.

it would have sounded better with a younger voice especially since the main character is supposed to be like 25. and the woman's voice who is narrating the story sounds to be in her mid-40s to 50s.

I am not an author. I couldn't write a short story. But this was..I think they call it casual sex now. That somehow bonds the couple forever. Start with sex, women power with Black Hawk pilot, a few scenarios. Lotsa sex. Not worth my credit but maybe you feel differently.

Maid for a single Dad. A good easy listen

This was an easy book to listen to. The plot was fairly predictable but none the less enjoyable. Did not stretch the intellect but good to listen to after a hard day.

Ugh, I got through it, but reluctantly. Terrible narration didnt help make this sleeper good in any way. If youre bored, and like romance with very soft story lines, you might like it. I thought the story was a waste of my time and was happy it was fairly short. Wont be reading another book by this author. Save your credit. I read it for free or Id return it.

I liked that Ellie's past did not tarish her view on life and love.

What did you like best about this story?

I Liked that there was a strong regard toward friendship and a strong fatherly protection. This was the firm foundation on which the story stood. Then you add in trust, love and humor and you end up with this great story.

What aspect of Kate Turnbulls performance would you have changed?

I liked it just as is.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, I really liked when Ellie showed Mac how to not spoil his daughter by not buying up the store just because she wanted to.

What a surprise........ but a nice one

Not my usual listen but I thought for the price I'd risk it and I'm so glad I did. Sweet romance story that carries you along with Dani's and Alec's attempt to 'get it right' this time round because they just couldn't make it right in all their previous reincarnations. But someone always gets in their way and this time is no exception but can they beat the odds and the vicious villain (or villains).

Didn't like the narrator - she had a bit monotious monotone voice but I enjoyed the book anyway.

Worth a credit? Put it in your cart and just buy it cause it's a cheap listen.

Reincarnation and Love - Surprisingly Good

I took a chance on this book because it was inexpensive and was pleasantly surprised.

Alec and Dani have been together in several previous lives, and all had tragic endings. Their present relationship seems to be headed in that direction (but, we all know it's a romance so the ending is happier this time).

I was sure I had the "bad guy" figured out early on, and then discovered I was totally wrong, so there were some surprises.

Overall, it was an enjoyable listen and I had no problems with the narrator.

A new cover picture is needed - she is not 15!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked this story through and through. It was interesting and captivating. The reincarnation angle really works and provides context to their "instant" connection.

What aspect of Melissa Roths performance would you have changed?

I didn't especially care for the performance - she was a bit dry and her voice didn't add much to the story. Her voice was mono toned and there just wasn't a lot of substance there.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I really enjoyed the book and am glad I downloaded it. While I didn't lose sleep over this one, it held my attention. I especially liked when the characters were hypnotized and told their past stories.

Ok my last comment here is change the cover picture. The girl on the cover is just that - a girl. She looks 15 and the character in the book is a professional woman, she's in her 20's. I thought this was a YA book based on the cover.
