If only there were more men like Kyle Harrison! Handsome, wealthy, thoughtful, considerate, muscular, loving. What luck when he walked through Desiree Germain's door at KICK radio station in Anaheim, CA. Sparks definitely fly, but Desiree has paid her dues in the industry and finally has her own show during afternoon drive, the most coveted hours to work in radio. She's not about to give that up for anyone, especially for a man who lives in Seattle! Syrie James delivers an intelligent, compelling (and steamy!) romance story that addresses a young woman's conflict between her hard-won career and a new, passionate love. Desiree and Kyle are strong characters and I found myself hoping they would find a way to work things out despite plenty of challenging obstacles. Songbird is a wonderful read complete with romantic settings, dramatic interludes, and delightful detours!
A California--and universal--love story
Any book that has lobster, Catalina Island, a radio station, and an intriguing love story is going to get my attention. Having read more recent titles by Syrie James, I took a chance with this earlier book and loved it. Southern California radio personality Desiree has learned the hard way that long-distance love is the road to heartbreak.
