January 30, 2017Luke, Part 51 – Money MattersThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jenna preaches through Luke 16:1-13. All throughout scripture there is an intimate correlation between man’s character and how he handles his money. This message is on the parable of the dishonest manager. The dishonest manager is fired for mishandling money and then does some “creative accounting” to help himself out of a pretty big mess. Although this parable is a bit confusing, in it we find two strong principles concerning our money. If you're a parent, have you ever lost sight of your kid in a crowded supermarket or at the fair? There's this sense of panic that sets in, isn't there? You'll give anything, go anywhere to get them back. In Luke 15, Jesus says God is like that with you. He's frantic to get you back home. But not just you...every lost person. Jesus loves and values lost people. Do you? [This message was preached by Pastor Jake Mills at Green Bay First on January 15, 2017]...more48minPlay
January 09, 2017Luke, Part 48 – The CostThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 14:25-35. Have you ever bit off more than you can chew? Gotten into something and then realized you were not prepared; you didn't count the cost? Maybe a 5k run you regretted 1k in? A lot of times in the church we talk about the benefits of following Christ (and that's okay), but what about the cost? In Luke 14, Jesus talks about the cost and it's pretty steep. You have to hate your family in comparison to your love for Jesus if you want to follow Him. You have to be willing to endure torture and execution at a moment's notice. It will cost you. What will it cost you? Everything. Have you counted the cost? [This message was preached by Pastor Jake Mills at Green Bay First on January 8, 2017]...more37minPlay

December 25, 2016Christmas - Fear NotAre you scared? Do you live in fear? On Christmas, we usually talk about a baby and some wisemen, but maybe we should talk about fear for a moment. The angel Gabriel said something very interesting to Mary, Joseph, and the shepherd on 3 different occasions. He said "Fear Not". Mary was scared because her life plan was being interrupted in a big way. Joseph was scared of what people would think of him. The shepherds were scared because they were inadequate and ill-prepared. Which one are you? God says to you -- "Fear Not!" [This message was preached by Pastor Jake Mills at Green Bay First on December 25, 2016]...more38minPlay
December 19, 2016Luke, Part 46 – One Narrow DoorThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 13:22-35. What if what Jesus said was true? What if there really is only one way from death to life, darkness to light, sorrow to joy? What if there's this door...and it's the only door that gets you there? What if that door was narrow and you had to search to find it, duck to enter through it, humble yourself to get to the other side of it? If that's true, finding the door and running through it is kind of a big deal... Jesus said there will be a lot of people surprised at what side of that narrow door they end up on. Which side are you on? [This message was preached by Pastor Jake Mills on December 18, 2016 at Green Bay First]...more47minPlay
December 12, 2016Luke, Part 45 – The Pastor and the Poor Woman**We apologize for the background noise in this podcast. But if you can get past it, it's a great message!** This series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 13:10-21. While Jesus is preaching, He sees a woman who is hurting, so He stops His sermon and calls her up. She doesn't seek Him out; He seeks her out. In a moment, He heals her completely and she begins to rejoice. But the local pastor gets up and publicly rebukes Jesus for healing the woman on the Sabbath day. Why? What's the difference between these two? What causes people to go from rejoicing to religiosity? Are you the religious critic in this story or the hurting woman? I'll dig around the roots and put manure down. And we'll see if I can get it bearing figs by next year." Results matter to God. Fruitfulness matters to God. Do you want to bear fruit?
