March 06, 2017Luke, Part 56 – 10 LepersThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 17:11-19. 10 lepers ask Jesus to heal them and He tells them to go to the priests to present themselves as healed. The problem? They actually weren't. They had to step out in faith and believe they would be healed even though their bodies were still riddled with the disease. As they did that, each and every one of them was healed. While they were all no doubt thankful for being healed (they'd rather that than not), only one came back to Jesus to give thanks and worship. Is it a big deal? We might not think so, but Jesus did. A heart that is thankful to God is important to Jesus. February 27, 2017Luke, Part 55 – The Right Way to FightThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 17:1-10. Conflict will happen, no matter how “Christian” you are. So it’s important that we know the rules to fight right, in a way that honors God. Jesus gives us those in Luke 17. Will you follow them? February 20, 2017Luke, Part 54 – The Great ReversalThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through the parable of the rich man and Lazarus at the end of Luke 16. A Barna study said that 80% of pastors have never preached on poverty. 80%! And yet Jesus, Isaiah, James, John, Micah (and pretty much the whole Bible) talked about it a lot! We're talking about it because Jesus talked about it in Luke 16. You simply cannot please God without caring for the poor. [This message was preached by Pastor Jake Mills at Green Bay First on February 19, 2017]...more47minPlay
February 13, 2017Luke, Part 53 – Jesus and DivorceThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches talks about Luke 16:18. Divorce is a difficult subject because it causes so much pain in the lives of families everywhere. Malachi 2 says that God hates it. Sin causes death and the sin of divorce leads to the murdering of a marriage. It's a difficult subject, and yet there is always life to be found in the Truth the Bible contains about any subject. God's commands are for His glory and our joy. So, even if it's painful, explore what the Bible says about divorce, the Biblical grounds for divorce, and how to keep from divorce with us by listening to this message and sharing it with friends! February 06, 2017Luke, Part 52 – Bad News FirstThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 16:14-18. Have you ever found yourself justifying a mistake you made? Explaining to someone that you couldn't have done anything differently, so it wasn't your fault? What about something you know isn't right? Have you ever taken an honest look at yourself and found that you've been rationalizing around something that is just wrong? That's what the Pharisees were doing in Luke 16. But because Jesus loved them (as He loves you in your sin), He explained to them that self-justification doesn't matter when it comes to God, because He already knows your heart and true motives. And you can't fix it yourself. That's the bad news. But what's the good news? Listen to this message to pass it on to a friend! January 30, 2017Luke, Part 51 – Money MattersThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jenna preaches through Luke 16:1-13. All throughout scripture there is an intimate correlation between man’s character and how he handles his money. This message is on the parable of the dishonest manager. The dishonest manager is fired for mishandling money and then does some “creative accounting” to help himself out of a pretty big mess. Although this parable is a bit confusing, in it we find two strong principles concerning our money. It's called the parable of The Prodigal Son, but there are actually two sons. And it's really more about the love of a father. Have you ever made a mistake, said things you regretted, burned some bridges, and then realized you were wrong? It's a horrible feeling, but it's a good thing. It's called "Godly Sorrow" and you should let it sink in. Just don't stay there. Move on to the next step. What is the next step? Listen to this message to find out! January 16, 2017Luke, Part 49 – Lost and FoundThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 15:1-10. Have you ever lost something that was valuable to you? Maybe it was your phone or your keys; or maybe something like a wedding ring or an heirloom of some kind? If you're a parent, have you ever lost sight of your kid in a crowded supermarket or at the fair? There's this sense of panic that sets in, isn't there? You'll give anything, go anywhere to get them back. In Luke 15, Jesus says God is like that with you. He's frantic to get you back home. But not just you...every lost person. Jesus loves and values lost people. Do you? [This message was preached by Pastor Jake Mills at Green Bay First on January 15, 2017]...more48minPlay
January 09, 2017Luke, Part 48 – The CostThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 14:25-35. Have you ever bit off more than you can chew? Gotten into something and then realized you were not prepared; you didn't count the cost? Maybe a 5k run you regretted 1k in? A lot of times in the church we talk about the benefits of following Christ (and that's okay), but what about the cost? In Luke 14, Jesus talks about the cost and it's pretty steep. You have to hate your family in comparison to your love for Jesus if you want to follow Him. You have to be willing to endure torture and execution at a moment's notice. It will cost you. What will it cost you? Everything. Have you counted the cost? [This message was preached by Pastor Jake Mills at Green Bay First on January 8, 2017]...more37minPlay
January 02, 2017Luke, Part 47 – Priority OneThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake preaches through Luke 14:1-24. Many times we live life like we are the most important people we know. We live life for me. We fight for recognition and adoration. We fight to be exalted. But Jesus said that those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Do you believe that? What's your priority in life? Is it you? Money? Possessions? Your family? There's only one right answer... [This message was preached by Pastor Jake Mills at Green Bay First on January 1, 2017]...more54minPlay
