"God will only give you what you can handle!" Not quite... "God doesn't want you to judge other Christians!" Not quite... "God wants you to be happy!" Not quite... "When you die, God gains another angel." Not quite! In week one, Pastor Jake talks about what is maybe the biggest misconception in our Western version of Christianity - "God wants me to be happy." Does He? Is your happiness important to God? Is there anything wrong with seeking happiness? Take a listen to find out! September 19, 2016Now (Haggai), Week 2 - PersevereThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the book of Haggai. In this second message, Pastor Jake preaches through the second half of chapter one and the first half of chapter two. The people of Israel had been allowed back to their homeland after 70 years in captivity in order to rebuild the Temple. But after some opposition, they gave up and the project sat untouched for 14 years as they built their own houses, saying "the time isn't now". God sent Haggai to say now IS the time! The people obeyed and began but one month later they gave up and quit again! They were discouraged by the small beginning and the critical comparisons to the first temple. Have you ever felt discouraged when you tried to do something for God? What should we do when that happens? God says to the people: "Be strong and do the work!" We pray that God draws you closer to Him as you listen to this message! [This message was given by Pastor Jake Mills at Green Bay First on September 18, 2016]...more53minPlay
