What you think matters, because thoughts create words, words create actions, actions create habits, and eventually habits are what create DESTINY. Your life will always move in the direction of your strongest thoughts. Romans 12:2 says to let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. But how do we do that? I don’t know if you’ve thought about this or not, but you’re hardwired for hope. You don't live by instinct. Every decision you make, every choice you make, every response you have to the situations and relationships of your life is fueled and motivated by hope. Your story--the story of your life--is a hope story. Your happiest moments are hope moments. Even your saddest moments are about hope dashed or hope destroyed. You’re always looking for hope. You’re always attaching the hope of your heart to something.

The problem is that there is no created thing in this world that will be able to sustain your hope. Everything will fail you. Every person, job, or situation will eventually leave you hopeless. But that's not a bad thing, because hopelessness is the doorway to true Hope.

What we tend to get caught up in during the Christmas season is actually just a shadow. The lights, the presents, the family reunions -- these are all good things, but they're just a shadow of what our hearts really long for. In this series, we talk about the substance behind the shadow.
