March 28, 2016No Other Gospel, Week 1 - GodDo you know what the gospel is and what it isn't? Or do you just know pieces of it? The Apostle Paul warned the Galatians that that there is no other gospel; that there's only one. He even went as far as to say that if an angel came down from heaven with a different gospel he should be accursed! So, it's pretty important that we know the true gospel, don't you think? That's what this series seeks to do -- help you understand the one gospel that Galatians 1 talks about. In Part 1, Pastor Jake talks about the size and scope of God by teaching through Romans 11:33-36. Without an understanding of who God is and who we are in light of that, there can be no understanding of the gospel. March 21, 2016The Gospel of Luke, Part 33 - The One ThingThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. Everyone is looking for the "one thing" that they need to do to find life, peace, and fulfillment. At the end of Luke 10, Jesus goes to Mary and Martha's house. Martha gets busy serving, but Mary sits at Jesus' feet to listen to Him. Jesus praises Mary by saying she did the "one thing" that was necessary. In Luke 18, Jesus tells the rich young ruler that he lacks just "one thing". In Philippians 3, the Apostle Paul says that he does just "one thing". In Revelation 2, Jesus tells the church of Ephesus that they're missing just "one thing". So...what is this one thing? March 14, 2016The Gospel of Luke, Part 32 - Go and DoThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In Luke 10, a lawyer stands up and asks Jesus a question most of us have asked before - "how do I inherit eternal life?" Jesus answers by challenging us to make sure what we believe is connected to the life we live. Because in the end, it's your love for people that validates or invalidates your claims of knowing and loving God. March 07, 2016The Gospel of Luke, Part 31 - Right RejoicingThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. "Show me the biggest jerk you know, and I'll show you the person who's hurting the most." They're the same person. Because our behaviors come from somewhere, don't they? And many times the most self-righteous people are actually the most self-loathing on the inside. But both extremes - self-righteous or self-loathing - completely misunderstand the gospel. So, whether you're at one end or the other (or somewhere in between), we pray God will bless you as you listen to this message on Luke 10. He's also involved in our daily lives - transforming us, leading us, healing us, making us whole. This is God's glory! May God bless you as you listen. February 22, 2016The Gospel of Luke, Part 29 - The Message and the MeansThis series is a verse-by-verse expository series on the Gospel of Luke. In this message, Pastor Jake leads us in studying Luke 9. In this chapter, Jesus gives some very odd and detailed instructions to the disciples as He sends them out. They couldn't stay in nice places or take anything with them... Why is that? Could it be that Jesus wasn't just concerned with the message they preached, but also the life they lived? The truth is, the message you preach had better line up with the life you live, lest you do more harm than good.
