The world wants you to serve money, but money promises only what God can provide. If you love and trust in money, you will never have enough. "Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble with it" (Proverbs 15:16). Are you putting your trust in riches, or the Lord of the universe?

In 1 Timothy 6, the Apostle Paul tells Timothy to command the rich people to essentially “be good at being rich in what matters most”. But if you don’t know you’re rich or don’t feel rich, then it’s impossible to work at being good at it. If you are rich, is that good news or bad news? This week, we continue our RE series by talking about another significant word found throughout the Scriptures: Renew. It’s a fact of life — things wear out. Whether jeans, cars, houses, or ink pens, they get old and stop working. No problem, right? We can just replace them with newer versions! But what do we do when we start wearing out? What do we do when we start feeling exhausted and rundown spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically? Most of us start getting new stuff…anything to make us feel “new” on the inside. Or we take a vacation, read a book, veg on the couch. We try to renew ourselves, but it doesn’t work. If you want to be renewed, there’s only one way for that to happen: Go to God! This week, Pastor Jake starts a new series entitled “RE”. In it, we will look at 4 “re” words: Remember, Repent, Renew, and Remain. The first is Remember. All over the Old Testament, we see God instructing His people to set up monuments, build altars, observe festivals, and more all with one purpose: to remember. And it’s not just in the Old Testament. Jesus with His last few moments with His disciples before He died chose to say “Don’t forget Me!” by instituting the Lord’s Supper (Communion). It’s important that we remember…but why? And what it is that we should remember? May the Lord help you remember His faithfulness from the past so that you can trust Him in the present and follow Him in the future!

There's definitely some truth to the statement "actions speak louder than words". A meal given to a homeless person speaks a clearer message than shouting out of the window as you drive by, "Don't be hungry anymore!" But many times, bold words are necessary if we want to see lives transformed for Christ (even our own). "I'm just going to let my life be a testimony!" That's great, but why don't you let your words be a testimony too? Here's the truth: we speak BOLDLY about what we believe DEEPLY. So what do you believe?

In the kick-off to the Bold series, Pastor Jake talks about what it means to be bold for Christ by taking a look at Acts 4:8-13. In that passage, Peter and James amazed the religious leaders of their day with their boldness, because they were just “ordinary” people. But did you know that God loves to give ORDINARY people EXTRAORDINARY boldness? That’s the way He works and that’s why we’re certain that He wants to use you no matter who you are, where you come from, or what talents you bring to the table. But those religious rulers in Acts 4 didn’t stop there. The text tells us that they “recognized that these men had been with Jesus.” What a powerful statement! Do you want to be bold for Christ and see bold spiritual results? You’ll experience boldness as a byproduct of KNOWING Christ; of pressing into Him in a greater way. So do it!
