At the end of Luke 10, Jesus goes to Mary and Martha's house. Martha gets busy serving, but Mary sits at Jesus' feet to listen to Him. Jesus praises Mary by saying she did the "one thing" that was necessary. In Luke 18, Jesus tells the rich young ruler that he lacks just "one thing".
