Grierson is about to head to Venice and Toronto for nearly a month, so we preview both film festivals, and really the entire fall season, before he takes off. Then we have a classic reboot, Wim Wenders' "Paris, Texas." And we'll do a short fill-in show before Grierson returns, don't worry. Hi.
Thanks to Dylan Mayer and My Friend Mary, both of which are wonderful, for the music. We hope you enjoy.
Let us know what you think @griersonleitch on Twitter, or [email protected]. As always, give us a review on iTunes with the name of a movie you'd like us to review, and we'll discuss it on a later podcast.
There's a new Spike Lee movie! That's always a big deal in Grierson & Leitch land, so we dig into Lee's newest, starring Denzel Washington, "Highest 2 Lowest." We also discuss the Bob Odenkirk action sequel "Nobody 2."
Then, in our Reboot segment, we go all the way back to the year 2000 for Curtis Hanson's "Wonder Boys."

We took a week off while Will was either in Virginia or Tennessee, he's still not sure which, but we're back with a vengeance with three big ones this week.
First, it's Zach Cregger's follow-up to "Barbarian," the ambitious "Weapons." Then we get to two movies we missed the week before: "The Naked Gun" and "Together." And there was so much to discuss with "Weapons" that, at the end of the show, we actually have a spoilers discussion. So beware!

Two movies, one a big Marvel movie theater movie, one a legacy comedy sequel from ... one of our last movie stars left? First, Will and Tim discuss "The Fantastic Four: First Steps." Then! It has been 29 years since the last "Happy Gilmore" movie: What do we think of "Happy Gilmore 2?"
Then, in our Reboot section, we eat up the delectable "Tampopo."

So, Ari Aster has a new movie out, about Covid. You ready for that? We discuss "Eddington." Also, even though it has been out for a while, we never got around to Eva Victor's "Sorry, Baby," so we hit that.
And then! A Reboot of 1979's "The Muppet Movie." Muppets!

Is "Superman" the biggest movie of the year? We've got a whole bunch to discuss, that's for sure. We dig into James Gunn's restarting of the DC Universe with the guy in the tights.
Then we have our annual big mailbag show, featuring questions about movies from 1975, movie theater ettiquette and much more ... including that Woody Allen conversation we think a lot of you have been waiting for.
Also, Will will be in Los Angeles this week: Wednesday, 7 p.m. PT, Book Soup, come say hi!

Happy Fourth! We have an episode early for you this week, because it's our annual Best Movies of the First Half of the Year list. Both Grierson and Leitch give their favorite six movies of the year. We have two crossovers.
We also discuss the next Jurassic Park movie, "Jurassic World Rebirth." There is also that.

We've only got one show left before our annual Top Six Films of the First Half of the Year show, and we even have time to sneak in a Reboot. First, we discuss the Brad Pitt racing movie "F1." Then it's time for the horror sequel "M3gan 2.0."

Sorry we were off a week! Travel problems caused all sorts of issues for Leitch getting out of Oklahoma City with his son, so this week, we've got a super-sized mega-show with four big movies. They are:
"28 Years Later," the Danny Boyle-Alex Garland sequel. "Materialists," Celine Song's "Past Lives" followup. "Elio," Pixar's latest "The Life of Chuck," the Stephen King adaptation that won the audience award at the Toronto Film Festival.

There is nothing quite like a Wes Anderson movie, except maybe another Wes Anderson movie. We discuss the director's newest effort, "The Phoenician Scheme." We also dig into the John Wick spinoff "Ballerina."
Then, in our Reboot section, we look back at 1941's "The Devil and Daniel Webster."
