The Sisters dispel the myth that there is a hierarchy of grief. Grief is grief and a broken heart is a broken heart. We should not compare our losses to others because we don't know each others hearts. Grief is unique and individual and cannot be compared. Society is so ill equipped with how to handle and talk about grief and loss. For more information see our website www.healingstartswiththeheart.com

The Sisters define anticipatory grief as the grief that occurs when a loved one is given a terminal diagnosis and the family members try to imagine the pain they will feel when their loved one is actually gone. Anticipating a loss is another layer in the grieving process. However, no matter how much you try to imagine the pain you feel from your broken heart it doesn't even compare to what you really feel.

The sisters discuss what happens when a griever experiences compound grief when having loss after loss that leads them to spiral out of control after the most recent tragedy. Grievers need to be aware that grief is cumulative and it's cumulatively negative. Although it feels like the most recent loss is where you should focus your time and energy that is not always the case. Grievers need to go after the loss that is causing them the most pain in their heart. For more information see our website
