The sisters discuss everything that they have learned from their grief. There is a lot that you learn from grief and the people around you. The most important lesson learned is that everyone grieves differently. No two people will grieve the same even if they are grieving the same person. Most people will not understand what it means to grieve until it happens to them. Grief is so complex and it is is so heavy, but one of the things the sisters learned is that they are a lot stronger the they thought was possible. There is no right or wrong answer to this question. This is so personal and different for each and every griever. There is no time limit on when to clear out the personal belongings of your loved one. When you are in a true place of healing you will know when the time is right for you. No one gets to tell you when you need to do this and no one else should take this process away from you. The sisters discuss how grief changes us. Grief changes us in the here and now and changes us forever. You are immediately changed by the event and then you continue to change as time passes. If you do not actively go after what is broken in your heart you might not ever recover and be who you were before your loss occurred. But if you really work on your healing you will get as close as possible at being more of yourself. For more information please see our website www.healingstartswiththeheart.com
The sisters discuss how each individual griever gets to call the shots for their own grief. They get to be in charge and make the decisions for how they choose to grieve. The griever has to communicate what they do and do not want, without fear of judgment and persecution. The griever gets to make the decisions about what is best for them. The sisters discuss how challenging it is to be in the passenger seat when your partner is grieving. It is very hard because grief is unique and individual and everyone's grieving experience will look different. The best thing you can do for your loved one is to give them space and not force them to talk about it before they are ready. Allow them to grieve in whatever way works for them. The sisters discuss how important it is to grieve your loved one with respect. It's our responsibility as grievers to do the work needed to heal our hearts in honor of our loved ones. When we hold on to our grief and refuse to do our heart work we are not respecting the love and the bond we shared without loved one who is no longer with us. Erica and Sharon discuss how challenging it is to live in a world where there is no trust. This is typically something that begins in childhood. If left unaddressed this loss of trust can affect your identity and cause you to constantly doubt yourself and your decision making ability. A person who doesn't trust will constantly second guess the motives of others causing them to live in a state of unrest and fear.
