What good is reaching the finish line first if you no longer recognize—or respect—the person who crossed it?
We live in a world obsessed with winning.
Get the promotion. Close the deal. Reach the goal. Beat the competition. Prove that you are the best.
But there is a question we do not ask nearly enough:
What is your success costing you?
If achieving your goal requires you to compromise your integrity, damage your relationships, tear down other people, or lose yourself along the way, did you really win anything?
In Week 8 of the Summer Shift series, Kevin Lowe challenges the belief that where you finish matters more than how you ran the race. Through a memorable sandcastle competition at the beach, he reveals why success built through shortcuts, selfishness, or sabotage will always leave you feeling empty—even when everyone else thinks you won.
Press play and discover how to pursue your goals with ambition, integrity, and purpose without sacrificing the person you want to become.
In This Episode, You’ll DiscoverThere is nothing wrong with wanting to win.
There is nothing wrong with setting ambitious goals, pursuing a promotion, growing a business, becoming the best at your craft, or pushing yourself beyond what you thought was possible.
The problem begins when winning becomes the only thing that matters.
A victory may look impressive from the outside. The numbers may be great. The bank account may be growing. Everyone may be applauding your accomplishments.
But none of that can replace your integrity, your relationships, or the peace of knowing you earned your success honestly.
Success that costs you your character is not success worth achieving.
How to Win Without Losing Yourself1. Win With IntegrityDo not cheat, manipulate, or cut corners just because doing so could get you to the finish line faster.
A shortcut may help you achieve the result, but it can rob you of the pride and self-respect that should come with it.
Run your race in a way that allows you to look back and honestly say:
I earned this. I remained true to myself. I am proud of how I showed up.
2. Win by Lifting Other PeopleCompetition does not require cruelty.
You can be driven, ambitious, and fiercely competitive without tripping the person running beside you. Helping another person does not take away from your own opportunity to succeed.
A rising tide lifts all boats.
The greatest victories are rarely the ones we celebrate alone. They are the ones that allow us to grow while helping the people around us rise, too.
3. Win by Becoming Someone BetterThe short-term goal may be reaching the finish line.
The greater goal is becoming a stronger, wiser, more grounded person by the time you get there.
Ask yourself:
When the journey transforms you into someone you respect, your final position no longer determines whether you won.
Your Summer Shift ChallengeThink about one goal you are currently pursuing.
It could involve your career, finances, health, relationships, business, or personal development.
Now ask yourself:
Am I pursuing this goal in a way that will make me proud of who I become?
Do not focus only on the finish line. Consider how you are running the race, how you are treating the people around you, and whether your daily choices align with the person you want to be.
Because eventually, just like a sandcastle washed away by the incoming tide, the trophies, titles, and temporary victories will disappear.
What remains is your character, the lives you touched, and the person you became along the way.

Run it with integrity. Lift other people along the way. Become someone you are proud of.

Maybe me and you have just been asking ourselves the wrong question all along... We thought we were just being realistic, but in actuality we have been secretly destroying our chances at ever living out the life we were meant to have!
In Week 5 of the Summer Shift Series, Kevin explores how a simple mindset shift can help you stop preparing for the worst and start creating space for hope, growth, and possibility.
Are Your "What If" Questions Helping You or Hurting You?Most of us don't realize it, but the questions we ask ourselves every day shape the future we're preparing for.
Over time, those questions can quietly train us to expect disappointment, avoid risks, and settle for less than we're capable of becoming.
In this episode, Kevin challenges you to examine the hidden power of the questions you're asking and introduces a simple but life-changing shift:
What if it does work out?
Why Fear Often Sounds Like WisdomFear rarely announces itself as fear.
Instead, it often disguises itself as:
But what if the very thing you believe is keeping you safe is actually keeping you stuck?
Kevin shares how fear can quietly limit growth, opportunities, and dreams while convincing us it's acting in our best interest.
The Summer Shift: From Fear to HopeThis week's Summer Shift is all about giving hope the same opportunity you've been giving fear.

If you've ever wondered why you still can't "move on" from something that happened months—or even years—ago, this episode may completely change the way you think about healing.
Most people mean well when they tell us to "just move on." But if you've ever been on the receiving end of that advice after a loss, heartbreak, disappointment, diagnosis, or difficult season of life, you know just how painful those words can be.
What this episode strives to ask instead, What if the reason you can't move on isn't because you're weak? What if it's because moving on was never the goal?
Welcome to Week 4 of The Summer ShiftIn Week 4 of the Summer Shift Series, Kevin shares a powerful lesson inspired by standing in the ocean as massive waves roll toward shore. When a wave is coming, you can't outrun it. You can't pretend it isn't there. And if you try to stand rigid against it, chances are it's going to knock you flat.
The secret isn't getting over the wave. The secret is learning how to move through it.
The Essence of This EpisodeIn this episode, you'll discover why healing isn't about forgetting what happened, pretending you're okay, or somehow becoming unaffected by your past.
Instead, you'll learn how real healing happens when we stop fighting reality, stop avoiding the pain, and begin moving through it one step at a time.
You'll also discover why some of life's biggest waves can eventually become sources of strength, wisdom, and purpose.
This Week's Summer Shift ChallengeTake a few moments to identify the wave you've been trying to outrun.
Maybe it's grief.
Maybe it's fear.
Maybe it's regret, disappointment, anxiety, or an old wound that still hurts.
Name it.
Because when you can identify the wave, you can prepare for it. And when you're prepared for it, you're no longer powerless against it.
You may not be able to stop the waves from coming. But you can learn how to move through them!

Whether it's a career move, a health goal, starting a business, launching a creative project, or pursuing a long-held dream, fear often keeps us standing on the edge waiting for the perfect moment.
Using the simple but powerful analogy of standing beside a cold swimming pool, Kevin shares why the hardest part is often getting started—and why waiting until you feel ready may be the very thing holding you back.

✅ How comfort and familiarity can quietly keep you stuck
✅ The difference between taking a massive leap and taking a meaningful next step
✅ Why progress doesn't require having everything figured out

What is the next meaningful step I can take today?
Not a massive leap. Not a perfect plan. Just the next step that moves you forward.

Summer has a way of slipping through our fingers. One minute it's Memorial Day weekend. The next, kids are back in school, pumpkin spice is everywhere, and we're wondering where the summer went.
But what if this summer could be different?
What if instead of simply passing time, you intentionally used the next 90 days to build something meaningful?
In Week 2 of The Summer Shift, Kevin invites you to take a mental trip to the beach and asks a powerful question that sits at the heart of personal growth, fulfillment, and intentional living:
What are you building with your life?Whether you're pursuing a dream, growing a business, strengthening relationships, creating memories with your family, or simply trying to become a better version of yourself, this episode will challenge you to stop drifting through life and start building it on purpose.
Because the life you want isn't created overnight.
It's built one day, one choice, and one intentional moment at a time.
Get Ready to Discover:The next 90 days are going to pass whether you're intentional or not. The real question is: What will you have built by the time they're over?
This Week's Summer Shift Challenge:Take 15 minutes this week and ask yourself:
"What am I building with my life right now?"
Then identify one small action you can take this summer that moves you closer to the life you want to create.
Remember: Great lives are built the same way great sandcastles are built—one bucket at a time.

What would you do if your phone rang at 3:37AM… and within hours, your entire life changed forever?
In this deeply emotional and unforgettable conversation, originally published in October 2025, Kevin sits down with Australian-native Kate Gladdin who is a speaker, author, and resilience advocate for a story that will stop you in your tracks.
At just 20 years old, Kate received the kind of phone call no one is ever prepared for. Her older sister Nicole — her best friend, role model, and lifelong companion — had been involved in a devastating accident while traveling overseas in Thailand.
What began as confusion quickly turned into heartbreak. Within hours, Kate’s family was thrown into unimaginable grief.
But this episode is about more than loss.
It’s about what happens after life shatters.
It’s about learning how to keep moving forward when your world no longer looks the way it once did.
It’s about resilience, grief, healing, mental strength, courage, purpose, and the life-changing realization that tomorrow is never guaranteed.
And perhaps most importantly… it’s about choosing to live fully in honor of the people we love.
This is one of those conversations that stays with you long after the episode ends.
If you’ve ever faced a loss that made you question everything… if you’ve ever felt like your world stopped spinning and you didn’t know how to start again — this episode will speak straight to your soul. Most of all, today's conversation will help you answer the heart-wrenching question we all struggle to comprehend:
