Groundless (A Justified Podcast)

Groundless is on hiatus while we get ready for Season 5, but in the meantime, here is our between-seasons special, this time about a movie called "3:10 To Yuma" (2017), based on the Elmore Leonard short story of the same name.

Join your hosts as we look at "3:10 to Yuma." In this week's episode, Chris and Randy: learn about the Pinkertons and why there were so few police in the old west, find out that Ben Wade has stolen millions of dollars in 2022 value, discuss the Tom Cruise couch-jumping Oprah moment in the context of this movie, debate the quality of Gladiator (spoiler, one of us thinks it's WAY overrated), hear Chris's surprisingly decent Bane impression, and discover all the differences between this version of the movie, the 1957 version, and the (very) short story by Elmore Leonard.

Back on Halloween for the start of Season 5 of Groundless! In the meantime, check us out on the socials: @groundlesspod or @groundlesspodcast. E-mail us with your concerns, questions, corrections, and love trouble: [email protected]. Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review - some of you haven't done these yet - get involved!

In the deep, dark recesses of the Groundless Podcast... it's time for the season finale!

Join Groundless this week for a look at Season 4, Episode 13 of Justified, Ghosts (also known as that episode where Raylan sort-of participates in the assassination of a Detroit mob kingpin).

In this episode, your hosts: observe something special about this week's #1 movie back in 2013 and how it is accompanied by something unusual about this week's #1 top 40 hit, learn a tiny bit about the Quentin Tarantino movie universe and WAY too much about Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings (NERRRRRRRDS!), speculate about why Theo's thug mentions a movie featuring the guy who played Mo Green in 1, provide an update on our production schedule moving forward, and pour one out for Nicky Augustine, RIP you lunatic.

Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review! Hit us up on the socials @groundlesspod or @groundlesspodcast or e-mail us [email protected]. Tell a friend or relative! Back in a few weeks with a look at 3:10 to Yuma, and then we'll dive deep on Season 5 (the "bad" season). If you have ideas for segments related to Season 5's plot/characters send your ideas to [email protected]! See you in a few weeks!

Just when you thought the Drew Thompson story was over...

Join Groundless this week for a look at Season 4, Episode 12, "Peace of Mind" - the last episode before the Season 4 finale!

This week, your hosts: recklessly speculate on motorcycle gang culture, attempt to fix a real listener's relationship with weaponry, misremember the order of the "Olympus" saga movies and forever abandon hope of Gerard Butler guesting on our show, try to figure out how the "Back to the Future" writers came up with self-tying shoes but not iPads, and pour one out for a real one, RIP Sgt. Colton Rhodes, another hero gone too soon.

Join us back here in two weeks for our look at the finale and some news about Season 5 and our hiatus movie. Until then - check our our socials @groundlesspod or @groundlesspodcast, e-mail us to fix your relationship, to correct us, or just to share something cool with us:

With apologies for the delay - we are back! Time to join Chris and Randy for a look at Season 4, Episode 10 of Justified, "Get Drew."

In this episode of Groundless, your hosts: Enjoy how in-character it is for Shelby to have his fishing license in a frame on the wall of his office, try to understand why Drew's bag of $15k is so large compared to Boyd's bag of $300k, wonder whether Ava wanted Boyd to talk her out of her decision to take Drew, fully embrace Cousin Johnny as rat, and discuss a few production updates from the set of Justified City Primeval (stay tuned until the end to hear this, as well as our thoughts on the future of streaming).

Back on the normal schedule (or maybe abbreviated) for our next episode, "Decoy." Check us out on the socials @groundlesspod or @groundlesspodcast or e-mail us [email protected]. Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review - and tell a friend about the show! Thanks for listening!

Also: We know the audio quality for this episode is not up to our normal standards, we should be back to normal next week!

After a little hiatus, we are back to find out who Drew Thompson is!

Join Chris and Randy this week for a look at Season 4, Episode 9 of Justified, "The Hatchet Tour." Besides finding out the identity of Drew Thompson, we get to go real estate shopping with the Crowder's. On this week's Groundless, your hosts: meet a new director for the first time in a while, reminisce about a time when the all-time high DOW average was under $15,000, acknowledge the clever choice of soundtrack in this episode, learn a bit about Andrew Carter Thornton II (the real-life Drew Thompson), and realize that attempting to figure out the timeline on this show is impossible and we're better off just enjoying it.

Back soon (maybe really soon) with "Get Drew." Until then, don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review! Check us out on socials @groundlesspod or @groundlesspodcast and e-mail [email protected]. Tell a friend and thanks for listening!

The net begins to close on Drew Thompson, and we say goodbye to a record number of people in this week's episode of Groundless!

Join Chris and Randy for a look at Season 4, Episode 8 of Justified, "Outlaw." This is one of the best episodes of the entire series and we have a lot to talk about. In this episode, your hosts: Further clarify the difference between pacify and placate thanks to Mike from The OC (don't call it that), appreciate some of the weirdest songs to ever hit number one, learn how Romeo and Juliet relates to our word of the week, discuss the quite literal seasonality of Dairy Queen in small town Ohio, compare this episode to Terminator 2: Judgment Day and have it make sense, and pour one out for a real one, RIP Arlo Givens, you irredeemable bastard.

Back in 4 weeks (I know - sorry!) with our next episode, The Hatchet Tour, in which we learn the current identity of one Drew Thompson and Constable Bob exchanges automatic gunfire with the Clover Hill boys. Until then - check us out on the socials - @groundlesspod and @groundlesspodcast, e-mail us [email protected], and of course, subscribe, rate and review! Tell a friend or two while you're at it!

Grab your red margaritas and Jimmy Russell's finest, because we are heading for a swingers party in the hills of Kentucky!

Join Groundless this week for a look at Season 4, Episode 7 of Justified, "Money Trap." As you'll recall, this episode brings us one of the best named characters in television - Jackie Nevada. On this episode, your hosts: digress into a brief discussion of comic book movies thanks to one of our guest stars, learn that the best place to see Jackie Nevada without a shirt on is in fact in this very episode of Justified, attempt to understand the difference between placated and pacified, appreciate the deep character details for Kenneth, and celebrate 1000 downloads in the last thirty days!
