  • S02E06 - Blaze Of Glory
Don't panic. It's a Winona episode. Sit tight, we will get through this together. Before you know it, we'll be through it and back to the Bennett's.

Join Groundless this week as we take a look at S02E06 of Justified - Blaze of Glory. In this episode we debate whether this is the stupidest storyline in Justified(spoiler: it's a short debate), learn who Margo Martindale beat to get her Justified emmy, figure out what guys who hit on a lot of women and guys who go through the drivethru naked have in common, get our first "Law Minute" on the felony murder rule as applied to Ava, and remember what Carter the bank robber and Chris Farley have in common.

In this episode we marvel at what Dewey and Raylan have in common, address a couple of corrections from our friends at The Post Credit Podcast (available everywhere you find podcasts), discuss what Marvel movies and Ray Donovan have in common, underscore the heartbreak of being called "crippled to the point of worthlessness" by your mother, and learn not one, but two words of the week.

  • S02E04 - For Blood Or Money
Join Groundless this week as we look at Season 2, Episode 4 of Justified, "For Blood Or Money."

This week we get to know Rachel Brooks! We discuss whether our respective families were like the Huxtables (not the Cosby's, as stated by Rachel), remember Chadwick Boseman and appreciate his performance in this role, yet again discuss how Winona is the worst (and boring when combined with Gary), take issue with Raylan's bourbon knowledge, and admire Emmitt Arnett's accent.

  • S02E03 - The I Of The Storm
We've been missing Dewey Crowe in our lives, and this episode delivers plenty! Join us this week for a look at "The I Of The Storm" in which we are joined by Travis (@tstyles77 on social media) as our first guest. Lots to talk about in this episode, so we ran a little long - stay tuned until the end for a great story about Travis getting to have a long conversation with Mr. Arlo Givens himself. Beyond that, we discuss being repeatedly beaten with the metaphor of how Boyd is in a literal and figurative dark place, determine whether Boyd uses "irony" correctly - and point out something truly ironic in that conversation, realize that Dewey has not one but two moments of brilliance in this episode, and compare Winona to a monkey - how? - you'll have to listen to find out.

If you want to be a guest, reach out - [email protected]. Don't forget to rate us 5 stars and tell your friends to watch Justified - if they've already done that, then tell them to download this podcast! Thanks and see you in 2 weeks for Episode 4.

  • S02E02 - The Life Inside
Join us for a look at S02E02 of Justified - The Life Inside. In this episode we open with a correction from last week thanks to an astute listener (if you have a correction tweet us @groundlesspod or e-mail [email protected]). After we get the old business out of the way, we discuss what "The Americans" and Superman have in common, find out where Realtors rank on the sales hierarchy, learn the difference between the "apricot" and the "t-zone", fondly reminisce about health class, and use more miner/minor puns than anyone really should.

  • S02E01 - The Moonshine War
Season 2 Premiere! Welcome back to Groundless.

Join us for this look at Season 2, Episode 1, The Moonshine War, in which: we discuss whether Raylan had to fly coach back from Miami to Lexington after using Gio's jet to get to Miami, reflect on Dickie Bennett being a very casual psychopath, give reluctant and uncomfortable kudos to Billy Miller (playing Jimmy Earl Dean) for being a convincing pervert, uncover the historical origins of NASCAR and why it is related to Mags Bennett, and decide to spend the rest of our lives listening to Olyphant say "fire" in his Kentucky accent.

  • S01E14 - Get Shorty
Time for a "very special" episode of Groundless. In this episode we talk about our impressions of Get Shorty, a movie starring John Travolta, Rene Russo, Gene Hackman, and Danny DeVito from 1995 - and based on an Elmore Leonard novel.

Hear us compare characters and themes to Justified and other Elmore Leonard works. In this episode we discuss the Travoltaissance of the mid-90s, debate whether Rene Russo is attractive, play name that tune with an insane list of 90s hits that were all on the chart at the same time, misremember Batman Forever's villains, reminisce on Marg Helgenberger nudity, and try to figure out if the studio execs who greenlit this movie realized they were the butt of the joke.

Join us in a few weeks for Season 2 of Groundless - time to have some apple pie and dank kush with the first family of Harlan - the Bennetts.

  • S01E13 - Bulletville
WHAT? Season finale already?!?! How is this possible?

Time to discuss Bulletville - the excellent Season 1 finale to Justified. In this episode we discuss the excellent work of the wardrobe department as it relates to Bo Crowder, decide whether Bo's "empire" deserves a title so suggestive, debate whether Boyd is actually Wolverine, compare fathers who say they have no son with sons who say they have no father, and discuss our very favorite moments from season 1.

We're taking a bit of a break, but we'll be back with Season 2 before the summer ends. Also stay tuned in August for a very special episode of Groundless where we discuss a movie based on one of Elmore Leonard's books. Reach us at [email protected] with comments, questions, and corrections - as well as if you are interested in guesting or if you are a content creator who makes music you would like to be our theme song! Stay safe. Stay home. Wear a mask. And we'll see you all in a few weeks for a bit of apple pie and dank kush with the Bennett's.

  • S01E12 - Fathers And Sons
    CORRECTED VERSION UPLOADED

The penultimate episode of Season 1! Time to talk about our continuing theme of Fathers and Sons, which also happens to be the name of the episode... a little on the nose if you ask me. In this episode we learn the surprising medieval origins of our word of the week, talk about why Chris wishes this episode aired on HBO instead of basic cable, try to understand why the "Lucky" plotline is even in this episode, quickly dispense with real estate leasing, and figure out what Ava Crowder and Rachel Greene (or alternatively Raylan Givens and Ross Geller) have in common - which isn't our only 90's sitcom reference thanks to AUSA David Vasquez.

Next week is the finale! Until then, pretty please, with sugar on top, subscribe and review the fu**ing podcast (with apologies to Harvey Keitel and Quentin). As noted at the end, we are still looking for content creators to be guests on the show, so if you have something to plug and like to talk or write about TV/Movies, e-mail us [email protected]. Also - we are looking for theme music for the podcast, so if you are a composer or musician and have something you think works, let us know - let's talk!

  • S01E11 - Veterans
What better episode to record on Father's Day than one where a father slaps a son and another father threatens to kill his son? Time to accelerate toward the first season finale by getting all the pieces in place for the final showdown. In this episode we learn what it takes to make a Singapore Sling and how it tastes, marvel at Tim's work in the background of every scene, try to figure out why Winona is behaving like a high school girl, and discover that Ava is very attractive when she's drunk and willful.

Oh - and Chris spoils the movie "Us" and then doubles down by spoiling The Sixth Sense, Boys Don't Cry, and The Usual Suspects - if you want to avoid those skip from 7.40 to 9.10. And for goodness sake - go watch those movies already.
