This is the first in a series on the book of Acts. The disciples are told by Jesus to wait for the coming Holy Spirit. They must rely on God and trust him before receiving his power. They make a key decision as they wait, relying on their community and fellowship, prayer, Scripture, God-given common sense, and the casting of lots.

Jesus' final words to his followers are an invitation to partner with him in his work. We do this through imitating him in how we love God and love others. Following Jesus isn't just a label we put on ourselves, it transforms our minds and lives as we "go and make disciples."

Peter and the disciples find themselves back to fishing, even after hearing of Christ's resurrection. Jesus finds them, and Peter in particular, to re-call them into following him. Again around a charcoal fire after denying Jesus three times, Jesus shows his forgiveness, reinstating Peter and calling him to feed and tend to Jesus' sheep. The exchange shows how Peter's (and our) confidence isn't enough, but Jesus is. He invites us because he is good, not because we are.

In Jesus' first meeting with the eleven after the resurrection, his first words are "Peace be with you!" Jesus brings and offers his peace despite our doubts, he comes through our locked doors, and he meets us with his scars. This meeting with his disciples is a picture of how he meets us today.

On the road to Emmaus, Jesus walks with his disciples and opens their eyes to the resurrection and it's significance. We see him walk with his disciples, drawing out their hearts to deeper connection and belief. It's a picture of how God walks with each of us. From here, we'll see the message of Christ explode into the ends of the Earth.

Palm Sunday: Jesus rides into Jerusalem as the King, but not the type of king the people want. God will give us what we need over what we want, and he gave us a King that asks to rule our hearts rather than our governments.
