Pete grew up in Brooklyn with a single mom, because of a dad who was never present. Pete was a pastor's kid, but his dad was always out doing ministry and never at home. "That's what ministry was for me, my dad was off doing something great, but here we are on food stamps in section eight."Despite his dad being gone, Pete had a lot of amazing men that served as father figures in his life for certain seasons. Because of his relationship with his father Pete still struggles with male relationships. "As I've matured I have realized the benefit of being surrounded by other guys in any capacity." Pete credits the mentors, the father figures, in his life that have walked with him through tough seasons. Acknowledging his dad's flaws is not a criticism; it's allowed Pete to grow as a husband and father. The best thing we can do as men is to allow time and space for vulnerability.
