She has 20 years of experience as an Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner and is currently working as an innovation specialist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in their Primary Care Network.
In this episode we will be examining Gun Violence Prevention through the lens of the Primary Care “Connection” with Dr. Dorothy Novick . Dorothy Novick MD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine, and an Attending Physician at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Her advocacy and clinical work center around violence prevention, trauma-informed care and the social determinants of health. She serves as a Practice-Based Scholar with CHOP's Center for Violence Prevention, a board member of the Education Law Center PA, and an Alumni Ambassador for The OpEd Project. Dr. Novick has written extensively about gun violence and childhood trauma, as well as a range of issues affecting the health and safety of families in her care.
