Michael McLaren is joined by Charles Sowerwine, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Melbourne, about the life & career of Gustave Eiffel (1832–1923), the French civil engineer and architect celebrated for his iconic contribution—the Eiffel Tower. 

After graduating from École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures, he gained renown for innovative bridge designs like the Maria Pia Bridge and Garabit Viaduct.

Eiffel's career extended to projects like the Panama Canal's locks, Budapest-Nyugati Railway Terminal, and various bridges, shaping civil engineering.
